The bill authored by Rep. Sydney Jordan (D-NE Minneapolis) to allow the Minneapolis streetcar district tax money to be used on aBRT is part of the state legislature's transportation omnibus, which is great news and will finally put this misbegotten idea to rest.

Now the next step is getting Nicollet back on Metro Transit's aBRT menu.

Or we could wait a while... at least until we’re ready to build the line ready to be labeled the N Line. 😌

Just in time the feds to finally pass (knock on wood) an infrastructure package. Only took 208 infrastructure weeks and Biden making a deal after all of those never left the parking lot.

Sounds like the plan is to use these funds to complete the funding package for the F Line (Central), which just got a separate funding allocation from the legislature, along with the E Line.

Does anyone recall how long this “not-TIF” value capture district is in place? It’s not a typical TIF district, and was created through specific legislation as a unique thing, so I assume it isn’t held to the standard 25-year max before the involved properties fully go back onto the tax rolls. For a refresher of what I’m talking about and the specific properties that are included in this value-capture district, this thread has the receipts: viewtopic.php?f=18&t=1110&start=180 (Man, who else misses Alex/woofner/redisciple?)

I recall seeing early designs of the Gateway Tower showing a streetcar station integrated with the building. Are they still doing that or was it canned?

An aBRT station integrated with the building would be nice for access right to Nicollet and allowing buses to continue a little bit over northeast on hennepin.

The new RBC curves along the Nicollet side and around to the Wash Ave / Henn intersection just in case it gets built. It was one of the dev rules that the tower had to accommodate the potential route.
