Such an acronym is fairly descriptive of the Fresno transit system.

So disappointed I was in Seattle for 2 days on my honeymoon and we didn't ride the SLUT. Granted it was Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, I guess we'll just have to go back.

Probably just as well that you're not telling us you rode the SLUT on your honeymoon.

So are there catenary poles installed along the whole route now? They seemed to be continuous at least from the capitol to Snelling when I took a trip on the 50 yesterday. No wires along that stretch, though.

If it's up to Snelling, I recall them being up or nearly all up West of Snelling.

They were stringing lines East of 280 a couple months ago, and I see one line is hanging above 35W flyover

The poles are pretty much all up except for 4th Street downtown and the yard.

I fed this URL into a video player on my Linux box in order to watch the meeting. (*shakes fist at Silverlight*)

I saw your note about pulling an LRV along the tracks soon. Do we know if they'll drag it all the way to the Lowertown O&M facility?

There is still one small gap in the concrete that underlays and envelops tracks along the route -- 10 feet or so of space at the intersection of Cedar Street and 10th Street in downtown St. Paul. I'm not sure if it would be strictly necessary, but that gap should probably get filled in before pulling a train along the entire route.

Well, he did say 'we' didn't ride the SLUT, so on the assumption that his partner was 'on board', I think it would have been fine. To each their own.

(heh, I think I pulled off a triple entendre there...)

Green Line is turning into the Brewery Line before it even opens: http://finance-commerce.com/transit/201 ... r-brewery/

I fear there may be a "brewery bubble" about to pop... :)

This is very cool, exactly the type of further agglomeration around stations that makes living on or near the line that much better. Brewpub tours on the Green Line for all!!

To say this is "on" the green line is an awful stretch. The building itself looks super cool, but if Google Maps is any indication, it looks like a long, bleak walk to this location.

It wouldn't be a terrible walk, actually. Less than a half mile if you're smart enough to cut through the housing at bradford and long. Only about 200m of that through industrial.

No sidewalks and lots of tractor trailers would make this walk no bueno.

I agree the last 900 ft of walking would not be ideal given no sidewalks and the view while doing it. But I think I could stomach the 10-13 minute total walk if the beer was good. Tough to say what will come of the light to heavy industrial area there when the LRT opens..

Well, there is the 87 along Raymond if you time it right. It isn't a good enough option right now, but it will be somewhat better when CCLRT starts running.

How hard would it be to make the walk more friendly for pedestrians? That, and making the area around all the brewpubs a pedestrian mecca could do quite a bit.

Hell, if those brewpubs wanted to really be awesome, get together and make a shuttle bus between the stop and pubs. Sell a beer on board and I think you've got the beginning of quite the experience.

In a world of unlimited resources to buy out and relocate non-compatible land uses and build new infrastructure, it would be very easy.
