One other item that adds significantly to the cost of a massive ramp like this: It is flat plate with very extensive (and expensive) helical ramping to support it.

It was noted in some of the articles, but the green and gold ramps (the two closest to the terminal) are approaching the end of their functional lives, so the construction of the new ramp will give them some flexibility when they need to make a decision with those.

Funny other thing - there were other ramps at MSP Terminal 1 which came and went very fast. Built in the early 80s and torn down in the late 90s or early 00s.

I'm not familiar enough with JetBlue's route map to know if Boston is the best city to tie into the rest of their flights -- seems like you're going to be flying well out of your to get just about anywhere if you're connecting through there.

The flight will really only serve MSP to BOS. Their flight map lists connections all across the east coast. I could see people flying them to get to Florida and the Caribbean. Jet Blue's in-flight experience is truly a far above and beyond that of any other US carrier.

I could also see Jet Blue targeting Sun Country for an acquisition. That's purely speculation on my part.

JetBlue has 60+ nonstop destinations out of Boston so it'll be a good way to connect to a lot of east coast destinations, especially with 3 daily flights between MSP-BOS

I wonder why they aren't starting before April 16, when thousands of Minnesotans, Sconnies, and Iowegians fly to and from Boston for the Marathon.

MSP tied for second most transit accessible airport in the U.S., tied with O’hare. Miami placed first because of the large number of bus lines that run from neighborhoods to it.

Also for the aviation fans the last Delta 747 flight arrived at MSP. Departs tomorrow morning. However there is a slight chance it'll come back since the 747s are being used for charters until January.

Not sure how newsworthy this is, but a bunch of new flights added to MSP for the Super Bowl.

I have a question for you guys that know way more about airports/airlines than me (I know very little). Because my partner is from NYC, we plan on regularly visiting his friends/family there to the tune of 3-4 times a year. What airline(s) would you recommend using (or any other tips you have) for flying between MSP and JFK and/or LGA regularly? Trying to parse the different airline schedules and benefit programs is like reading Greek to me. :? Thanks for any help!

I find Delta to be a fine option. Using their AmEx card can get you good miles too.
