One hotel left to tear down. They may actually break ground by October like scheduled. Will be fun to watch this one go up.

Per a response on the Alatus Convention Center tower thread, this should be breaking ground this Tuesday!

Wow, how has this not already done so? Frozen ground or some kind of approval holdup?

Talked to someone on Saturday in the know, and they indicated they just got their financing approved and should be ready to break ground. The Alatus member indicating they break ground tomorrow makes a lot of sense.

Correction. Apparently the foundation permit is being held up, should be good to go in a few weeks.

Some news from the PostBulletin
"Financing has been completed and closed as of Feb. 13. The whole project is financed," said Chris Osmundson on Wednesday. "So we'll start with re-grading the existing lot. Excavation will start in the northwest part of the site."
Osmundson expects crews from Weis Builders to start working on the site yet this week. The first steps will be to prepare the site and start excavation following by pouring concrete.

"It will take three to four months for that until people will see any structures start to go up," he said.

Moving talk of the Alatus project and 2nd street over hear. I am hoping the added space given by this project allows the 4 lane blvd to connect from Uptown to just east of St Mary's. This stretch is too critical to make it 3 lane, in my opinion, since this is a major transit road and does get very busy.

Alatus, will you be providing a construction web cam for this project?

They delivered the crane this morning. Haven't driven by since 7am, but assume they started assembling it today. Going to be fun to watch this one go up.
