Duluth Residential Tower (15 stories)

Pretty exciting news for Duluth. What a great location for health workers that work in the two major hospitals in Duluth. I don't want to jinx it, but keeping my fingers crossed for this project!! Hopefully it will spur more housing being built in downtown Duluth. There are so many blocks that have potential for housing, I have never understood why developers aren't jumping to put more housing in the Central Hillside neighborhood.

We often stay at the Sheraton next door if we go to Duluth (SPG points, baby!) and I've thought that old motel is a great redevelopment site. Extend the downtown North!

We often stay at the Voyageur if we go to Duluth, so sometimes you eat the bear and sometimes the bear eats you.

While I like to see increased density, I’m kind of bummed. While I can’t speak for the inside, or the management, I actually really like the Voyageur’s external esthetic. It reminds me of those 1950’s-60’s motels on the Jersey shore.

More residential development in downtown Duluth is good, but the motel seems like it is heavily used and I imagine some of that guest traffic is from Essentia. I've never stayed there, but the reviews seem to be more positive than negative, and Duluth needs more lodging. Seems like a wash to me.

If the building owner allows it. Plus I know in the past Duluth capped vacation rentals at a rather low number, though there was talk of raising it.
