I'd say when you compare it to the structure just south on 15th (in frame), we're getting something much better than what we had been for the decades after WWII.

I'll be curious if you stand by that statement in ten years. I look at this project and I see a massive maintenance headache - it will be expensive to maintain anyway, but will take student abuse especially poorly. That older building in frame is almost indestructible and looks about the same now as the day it was built.

Can't predict the future, obviously. But I'll take a building that opens itself to the sidewalk at multiple points with doors and patios over a brick bunker with some glass surrounding the door. Dinkytown Rentals has a pretty big stake in the area staying desirable, and the Lodges they built 7(?) years ago still seem pretty nice from the street (IIRC from last fall walking to football games). But you're probable right, these will take a decent amount more work to maintain.
