Given the Zuccaro proposal was denied does that mean we're less likely to see mixed use here?

Uh hold on its not denied. It's not 4:30 yet and we haven't had the city council meet on the item yet.

Maybe they'll pass it and we can see mixed use go up the Washington/2nd corridor

Every site along that corridor would need a lot of site abatement. It doesn't make much sense. The boundry is pretty set at Plymouth even with this development.

Anyone know what's happening at 23rd Ave NE and California Street? There are grain mills and a vacant lot. Looks they're assembling a crane right now! I work across the street and have seen them remove the community garden that was there, run some electrical, and do core sampling over the last couple months.

That's a charter school going up. It may be in the NE Thread. I've seen the packet for it.

Oops wrong thread!

The charter school is half a mile north, above Lowry. They may just be taking the silos down.

Yes, demo of the silos: http://apps.ci.minneapolis.mn.us/PIApp/ ... 2924410168

No other development planned. As a fan of grain elevators, it's been a sad year.

I remember when that complex had a massive fire back in the late 80s. We watched it from Deming Heights Park.

That is just awesome! I knew Devean George was heavily involved in redeveloping NoMi but Kevin Garnett's addition is a pleasant surprise to me. I love KG!

Don't think I saw either of these apartment projects for Northeast mentioned anywhere

Very interesting redevelopment proposed for 927 West Broadway: Phillips Family Foundation partnering with TRI Construction and New Rules for office, retail, art venue, plus future redevelopment of 1001 West Broadway site with housing, office, and parking. Phillips helps essentially finance the purchase and eventually hands off ownership to these two black-owned businesses.

Pretty cool to see (though a mention of some "temporary" surface parking).

Just one to two blocks away from the future D-Line route that would hopefully be a trigger for the future phases of development that are conceptualized. What an exciting vision, I hope they are successful in carrying it out. I also imagine there might be some city support available if they hit hiccups.

Fencing has been put up around the former Estes Funeral home at Plymouth and Penn in N. Mpls. The new much better looking building opened up across the street about three months ago. If I'm not mistaken, the clinic next door will be expanded on that site. I'm hoping for some retail and apartments to be added to the mix. Anyone else on here live in the Homewood neighborhood, or near north?

Cool unique project:

"Cycle speedway" on the south side of Royal Foundry Craft Spirits / mini soccer pitch on north side of La Dona Cerveceria.

I saw that and thought it was really cool. My second thought was what were my chances of getting hurt if I tried it out .This should be super popular given the location near the Cedar Lake Trail.

This is proposed near La Dona and Royal, I thought it was interesting that they weaved the building around existing homes and secondly thought that this is another sign that the Northside is starting to gentrify.

The Bassets Creek Valley seems like the most obvious area of North to start getting this change.

The nearness to one LRT station I’m sure factors in.
