I think they are stabilizing the chimney. The stone panels have been held on with metal straps for the last decade.

A little over a year ago news came out that Pizzeria Lola was planning a second location next to Dangerous Man. I can't find any updates since then. Does anyone know if this is still happening?

I've been wondering about this recently as well!

A new taproom opens up today: http://ablebeer.com/home

That Central corridor has so many now, between Indeed, 612, Bauhaus, Tattersall and Sociable, and Dangerous Man, Northgate, Insight, Fair State and Boom Island not too far away. And I'm sure I am forgetting a few.

Went to Able this weekend. They have a nice place with 4 beers on tap right now. Its a good product. I think they will do well in this neighborhood. Competition will be fierce but this place has all the right ingredients to succeed. They have done a nice job of making this building very inviting to the customer. It is also very easy to hold a conversation in their taproom, the acoustics keep other conversations rather muted, which is something some tap rooms have issues with.

I also went, on opening night. Enjoyed the beers. Better than 612 or Bauhaus I'd say (beer-wise). But I thought it was quite loud in there, haha.

There's is a proposed redevelopment of the Holiday/White Castle in the upcoming Marcy-Holmes land use committee agenda. This is the one right at the crossroads of Hennepin and Central. The person listed to talk about the "redevelopment" is a representative from Holiday, so don't get your hopes up. I remember hearing a little chatter about this site and how the 2 want to merge together, almost making like a highway stop Holiday with a White Castle. I wouldn't be surprised if this doesn't go anywhere.

^Having been in that White Castle after bar close, there's no way Holiday should want to combine. The things I've seen there...I can't unsee.

(Regarding the Hollywood Theater): Chimney is gone. I guess that's one way of stabilizing....

Sometimes that's what ya gotta do. I've had a chimney rebuilt, it's expensive.

Hilarious! I too have seen things there that can't be unseen!

You might see some Hollywood Theater updates on this Facebook page. Not clear if it's run by the city or by the new owner. Sounds like they're looking for a creative office tenant.

Preservation Design Works has a construction blog. http://www.pvnworks.com/blog/hollywood_ ... index.html

I wish they were restoring the facade to 1935 instead of 1949. The later remodel really dulled it down.

If (like me) you had trouble placing that address, it's the old building next to Red20 that was fixed up at about the same time.

Project called 'Marshall Flats' is planned for 2525 2nd St NE. It will be 4 levels, 36 units for people with HIV/AIDS.
So this is currently tax forfeited land? On an important corridor (Lowry)? And the city hasn't shoveled it? No wonder they haven't acted on the 311 ticket I submitted about this property.

Looks like the Wells Fargo off E. Hennepin and 5th is undergoing interior renovations. Hoping this branch closes and the site is redeveloped.

I've seen that. I tried looking it up and I can't find anything about it. IS is just a renovation?
