I noticed at the fair that Costco was having a membership drive for a new location, but I didn't want to get close enough to figure out what that location was and get roped into a sales pitch, any chance it was about this place, or are they opening a regular store somewhere else in the metro as well?

They're also building a new Costco in Woodbury at 494 and Tamarack (the NW quadrant).

I also drove by the Costco site on Broadway this past weekend and saw the beginnings of work. Glad to see from the permit that it appears to actually be Costco getting the building ready. Not sure what selection the "Business Center" will have, but it will still be great to have access to some things close-by.

Yes, it was for the Woodbury location...

Does anyone know if the Costco Business Center will have a gas station? Drove by there yesterday and was surprised by the amount of dirt being pushed around. More than I would have expected for a simple parking lot repaving. Are they burying tanks? Would love to have a Costco Gas station close by.

The City has released an RFP for the residual land between the historic Grain Belt brewery buildings and the newish Sheridan park.

PDF here.

Lots of complications with this site, including new streets to be constructed, historic rail ROWs to be maintained, high voltage power lines to be avoided, parking contracts to be fulfilled, and coordination with the Park Board to be coordinated. Still, it's a pretty spectacular site. Will be interesting to see what comes forward.

The Dusty's project is also very much under construction now. No apparent movement on the other project which was proposed for the same block. Sorry, no photos.

Oberpriller is proposing 10 2-story townhome units in 2 separate row buildings at 2407 2nd St NE, a 0.47 acre parcel with a ~100 year old prairie home. Mix of 2 & 3 bedroom units slated for rental, asking for re-zoning from R2B to R3. I didn't realize this (maybe it's upthread somewhere) but the parcel just to its north has some 3-story, mostly 4-BR townhomes under construction already (site plan here).

You won't believe it, but the neighborhood org opposes this project because it doesn't fit with the Small Area Plan - it's not residential in character (?), 15' front setbacks are too small, it requires demolishing a home with a stained glass window, and the SAP only designates townhomes directly adjacent to commercial corridors. I have a hard time believing CPC/council won't approve this, but this is the type of housing people say they want (larger family-sized units, small-scale, etc) that zoning and SAP end up banning and neighborhood orgs stick to their opposition when the time comes.

If that's not a project tailor-made to adequately address neighborhood 'concerns', I don't know what is.

Do we have a link to the under-construction project immediately to the north of the site?

Sorry, not sure how I missed that. Interesting units, but the middle ones (without any side windows) could be kind of deadly. 70' deep!
