They've had papers and fences up,and some demolition on the east side of the red tile.

Yes, there's been a lot of demolition to create quite the landfill down there. It's fun to see up close.

Here are a few photos of this one:

This is my favorite construction/destruction project going on in the city right now. It seems to be moving slowly, but there's always something different going at this site. On the north side, you can just walk right inside the lot.

Could be wrong, but I don't think Dominion has started work on the A Mill yet. The demo of the building next to the Red Tile elevator is for Mill & Main phase 2 I think.

Tom, Why is it you post links to your blog rather than posting pics here? I'll admit I am not a fan of the rotating pics in your blog.

Mamundsen, I post the link because it's easy. I would rather direct you to all of the pictures of a given project rather than picking one to embed here. Thanks for the feedback on rotating pics. I don't really like 'em either, but have done it for some developments like this that I've taken far too many pictures of. I prefer the galleries where you can click on a single pic to view it at full size and scroll through the rest...

I'm not trying to be annoying or steal traffic from UrbanMSP. I also don't think of myself as much of a photographer, as I often forget to bring my nice camera on walks... I just like to add to what's available for us development geeks to look at.

^^^Thanks for the explanation. I do enjoy the pictures. Just wondered if there was a reason behind the delivery method.

When is this going to pick up? Doesn't Dominium have the money all figured out? Here's the only evidence I could find of ongoing work, though I'm sure stuff could be going on inside.

I'm kind of obsessed with those conveyor connections between the mill and silos. I hope they never ever go away.

I agree -- this is the kind of unique potential attraction that Minneapolis really needs to take advantage of. It's historical, it's industrial, it's sublime.

Zipline from the Stone Arch Bridge to the tunnel? We could call it the Jimmy Hill Adventure Tour.

Welcome to Minneapolis Sensory Museum. Explore the subterranean world in complete darkness, smell the open sewers, listen for the squeaks of millions of bats, feel the rotten cave floor through your soaking wet shoes shoes. As always, children under 10 are free! Tetanus shots required for admission.

*I can't wait! :D

Didn't snap a picture this morning, but there is now a dumpster on site, and they're putting up fencing along Main St. :D

May have to sell or rent my place to get in here. Both the Schmidt building and this will be great for working artists.

Looks like its official:
http://www.bizjournals.com/twincities/b ... rward.html

Couple of quick thoughts:
1- Surprised how expensive this is
2- Surprised how many units they're squeezing in there
3- Surprised how long this will take to construct
4- Really wish they focused on the Main St street scape, looks like all of their focus is on the back & sides
