SV historic district: Just the Sterb's building.
One more - the three story block kiddie corner from Sterb's. But that's it. Everything from Oak to Huron (except S&H) can go
I would save the Chipotle and Punch Pizza building on that corner as well.

As an aside, that Stadium Village Chipotle is way too small and awkward a space for such a busy restaurant.

I could see them moving to a bigger space (in WaHu?). They're the only Mexicish place in SV, so the extra two blocks from campus won't kill them, and it would open up an all-important small, cheap business spot for an actual small business.

Although if they move much farther east then Qdoba will be closer to a lot of employees. When I worked in Keller Hall it was a wash already, any farther and Qdoba might win out.

Then again, yeah, that place can't handle the traffic it gets anyhow.

Isn't that one of the first (or THE first) Chipotle in Minnesota? I remember it being there in 2000 or 2001, which predates Chipotle's huge expansion into everyburb by at least 2 or 3 years

I remember going there in '99 -at least in the fall. I also remember the introductory billboard they had above Stub & Herbs across the street: "Gourmet Burrito? Wrestler Governor"

Yup. I worked in an office above it when it opened. Must have been 1998 or 1999.

Doing that also probably loses some of the Super block traffic. When I was a college student living in Centennial, I got way more Chipotle than I should have because it was so close (and the Centennial Dining Hall was so not good).

Every dining hall seemed to have some kind of identity, except for Centennial, which was just "food," though maybe people who lived in other halls would say the same about their dining hall.

If you liked so-greasy-it's-floppy pizza or adequate burgers, it definitely was the place for you!

I actually prefer food that I can shovel into my mouth in unlimited quantities so Centennial held some appeal in that regard...

I remember reading about this. I haven't heard much more about it in recent months. Does anyone know if the development fell through? I don't think it ever even went before the planning commission. Aside from that one photo, I haven't heard any other details. Anyone know what's up?

Eat at the Village Wok today, It this happens I hope that they can find a place to continue, as the lunch special I had was great and the price was reasonable and the food was very tasty.

Semi Relevant: http://www.startribune.com/around-u-apa ... 370342191/

"Signs that the apartment supply is beginning to outstrip demand around the Minneapolis campus are increasing."

I would be highly surprised if this is still alive as an apartment tower. Hotels on the other hand might still work.

Nice, I'll miss Big Ten if they tear it down though.

I'm impressed they are going to target non-students. Good for them.
