Amazing post.

The price is a useful detail. When I lived on 4th St. SE a few years ago, I paid $2.43/sqft rent with two friends for a house. The Link asking for $2.50/sqft for units in a steel and concrete building is a bit lower than I would've expected.

On the unit details, jmoney is exaggerating a bit here, it looks like The Link has some 3 bed/2 bath units between 1,088 and 1,173 sqft, but even the 4 beds don't have 3 baths. So... yeah. I'm sure I can go back to the CoW submission and look at the unit layout, but I'm not going to bother, I'm going to assume that these units have a pretty open plan common area.

Basically going to assume their target audience here is a bit past undergrad students, at least those without wealthy parents. Some of these unit sizes would be really good for families, and I think that's especially exciting with the Pratt Elementary school so close by. The smaller units are either for grad students or young professionals, which is what you'd expect.

$2.43/sq ft isn't bad for three roommates next to the saint anthony area , but for a one and two bedrooms that price is absolutely insane for prospect park. Prospect Park is definitely changing, but currently T-Rex is about the only place to get food. I highly recommend their cookies especially since they always have Groupons that make them cheaper. Anyways I currently pay about $1.75/sq ft to live about five blocks away at 808 Berry. I don't think having a grocery store on the bottom floor should be a 40% premium. I would debate with you about the amount of steel and concrete in a 6 story wood apartment complex. I don't even think they know who their own target market.

Looks like they now have a fully furnished demo unit ready, along with most of the western half of the building, and are working on the Fresh Thyme space. Hoping I can get groceries in my own neighborhood before the superb owl.

Great map! It looks like the whole building moved. Ff you scroll all the way to the bottom and checkout where they put the new apartment building.

It's already built. Pretty sure they're not moving it.

Their map was showing the apartment location across Nicollet Island. Click on the Neighborhood tab on their website. I am confused by why they would create this map. I am using chrome so it could be my browser. The address is still the same the location is just wrong on their map. It is probably easier to fix the map page than move the apartment since it is already built.

The location indicated on the map appears to be the same as Nord Haus and there is a similar map on that website but with different icons. The websites for both were designed by the same company upshift who I presume just changed the name of the apartment building and the icons on the map and decided to call it a day either forgetting that is not where The Link is located or hoping no one would notice.

Grocery store set to open April 11 according to Harlem Irving. One retail space will be a local coffee shop working on other two.

Does anyone know the name of the coffee shop that is going in here? I can't remember the name of the coffee shop that used to exist in the old building but I wonder if they are coming back.

You're probably talking Overflow Espresso which used to be in that building next to a daycare.

Good old Overflow...I googled that and it looks like the property developer used to own it. It is kind of ironic that they complained about the Green Line ruining their business then cashed in on the developments. I highly doubt they are going to open their own store again. The grocery store is going to have a Cuppa Joe inside so any other coffee shop that comes in is already going to have competition. I am hoping the store offers pints on tap like their recently built store in Milwaukee. The Whole Foods on Selby is way too crowded to have a beer so this would be my next watering hole.

Photo update. Looks like it's on track for a spring completion date.

Never a fan of the use of cheap corrugated metal siding-- and this has plenty of it. Wish the tower portion could have had the same percentage glass facade as the top of it throughout the building, instead of the break halfway up.

I do like the black metal paneling with the wood accent for contrast on the low-rise portion... The light brown paneling and light brick not so much. The brick reminds me of what was used on the Be The Match building, kind of dated-on-arrival imo.

That metal siding looks terrible.
Agreed, but I think the brick plays an important supporting role in achieving the full effect.

Talked with someone close to the project today. They were also not a fan of using so many materials for siding but noted that it's often not feasible otherwise, like we've all heard. The Fresh Thyme is scheduled for April 1st opening.

Also the low rise portion that opened a few months ago is apparently not leasing well, like 12 units leased so far. Let's hope that picks up when it's finished.
