I'm guessing the property owner has some say in it. For example Menards on University Ave has a University Ave address despite facing Prior Ave and all the entrances being on Prior Ave, save one staircase up from University Ave.

Probably has to do with parking, like the Walker example. People type addresses into their phones and if they're not led to a parking lot or garage they're confused.

Fresh Thyme appears to have both underground parking entrance right near LRT station and surface parking in the back, off of Fourth Street.

They have escalators up from the underground parking like thev've done in other stores.

Have to say, I like the underground parking option for coldest part of winter - wonder if there is bike parking down there.

Is there a "back" entrance from the light rail? Or do you have to walk around the block?

How is the street number 24? Is University the 0 Street in this part of Minneapolis? Would a hypothetical building on the other side of 4th have be 100 30th Ave SE or 400 30th Ave SE?

Bike racks are now there. Concur with the parking lot explanation of address.

If you get off the light rail and face the Link, there is a staircase in the middle of the block on 29th. Walk up this and you end up essentially in an unfinished drop-off zone that is attached to the Fresh Thyme parking lot. Makes it a little quicker than walking around the block.

When I visited the store this weekend, I found it confusing with what I think are 3 entrances? I also noticed people jumping off the rail platform and cutting across the tracks to get to the entrance near the LRT. They may want to put a fence up there.

Interesting design

Thats bad. Makes sense that with all the new draws there that some extra safety will be needed.

I actually thought about jumping off the platform as well. Instead we walked to the end of the platform. It was really confusing how to get into the store from the LRT station. Be nice if they simply had a sign saying, "Entrance," with a little arrow.

Also, where is best way to go with bike? Residents will know this stuff but for people using retail, some wayfinding, signage would be very good idea for safety and flow.

Dinkytown Greenway to the Transitway. People are being extremely nitpicky on this project. They plan on adding bike racks on University when we don't have like... 16" of snow on the ground. The surface parking lot only has TWO curb cuts and really has potential for future redevelopment since they integrated the underground parking. People will literally hop off the platform for anything. Do we really need to spend money on a fence? Not really, a majority of people will walk around it.

I wouldn't want to teach a kid to do it, but given that you can hear the train squeaking around the corner, and it's coming very slowly at that point, if you are able bodied enough to consider jumping down onto the tracks to save 50 metres of walking, you'll probably be fine. No need for a fence.

This here, for example, is a tram running through a major shopping mall in Melbourne. There's no curb, there's no signs. People wander across the tracks from store to store. No different than jumping off the platform here. I could find plenty of other examples from Europe with similar design.

Yikes.

Well, it was a legit deluge, so probably lots of places had issues.

Not a great look considering there's a district stormwater basin across the street. I wonder what the deal is, whether they didn't get the grading or drainage right in this location. Should be fixable.

There's no sign of flooding or even any damage left today.

I'm sure it was just clogged storm drains - you can see the guy is trying to clean them in that photo. If it's essentially a bowl, where all the surface water has to flow out via storm drains - and they're clogged with stuff, it'll fill up. That happens all the time on city streets too.
