Nooope, there's more. They weren't able to get the piles deep enough with whatever tool they were using earlier, so they're bringing in a bigger machine to drive them down another feet or so. This is the description I got:
You probably have seen this machine before around the UofM - a big weight drops onto the piles, and as it hits there is a small explosion to push the weight back up so it can fall again.
This will apparently be done on Saturday starting at 7AM and be done by 3PM. And then they'll be done. Hopefully.

They were putting up a smaller tower crane for this today. Also they're reroofing Lind Hall and there's a crane out front for that. So many cranes.

I'm not sure what they're doing with the windows facing Washington Ave, they seem to be ripping them out all the way to the structure, perhaps for more energy efficient/noise dampening windows?

The window system looks quite old -- I'd guess it's basically reached the end of its lifespan, and it makes more sense to put in a new high-performance curtainwall than to try to repair the existing.

New windows going on today, sorry for the small picture but I don't currently have access to my normal upload method and the forum only allows tiny pics like this:

That will really update the look!

(I always like seeing this topic, even if they spelled my last name incorrectly) :)

The tower crane here is currently coming down (or it may be down by now). They were supposed to have it done by 6AM Sunday but who knows. Maybe the Green Line crowds made it more difficult and put them behind schedule.
