Bunch of apartments added, bunch of parking spots removed, bunch of angry neighbors disingenuously complaining about both a lack of affordable housing and a lack of condos. You love to see it. This is an attractive project close to an LRT station, a park, and a grocery store. Hopefully it finally gets going.

Although:
The amended project was approved by the planning commission last month. Some neighbors plan to appeal the decision at the council’s zoning and planning committee meeting Thursday, Parritz said.

I saw one of the arguments being that this development will block the view from the Witch Hat Tower to the state capitol building. Looking at Google Maps, this would be too far north to ruin any view. So what is their argument? Just that it will be within view while viewing the capitol building?

No, you are right. It never was in the way of blocking the Capitol or Cathedral, yet they continued making the argument like they wished it so. I wished any news coverage could have found the time to get a photo from the top of the water tower showing exactly where the new tower would go.

Because it is in the way of views of a St. Paul industrial district north of University, and a short segment of views of the tower itself from the highway.

The only view you're losing is that of the KSTP antenna.

No that is a separate project for an extended stay hotel Home2.

Last I heard this project is suppose to break ground in May though that was just before current events.

Thank you.

The Home2 developer is allowing us to finish the demolition and stabilize the site. They will not begin building until things settle down.

Saw a "for sale" sign in front of the old Tierney building today, and Four Star auto shop seems busy as ever...which is great for them, but just wondering if anyone has heard anything more about this proposal recently?

The Tierney building on the corner is currently being renovated into a church. So I'd say no.

So I checked in with The Development Tracker, and they said Vermillion is still planning on constructing it, but the timeline has been pushed back.
