I forget exactly what this project was, but there's a foundation sticking out of the ground at Main St & 6th St SE, just east of the Pillsbury "A" Mill. I rode past there on my bike today and would have taken a picture, but I was trying to keep to a schedule.

I believe that's Mill & Main, another Doran project. That guy knows what he's doing.

It is coming along pretty quickly now. Here is a couple of renderings of the project:

I see they broke away from the mold a bit and went for 7 floors instead of 6 -- how daring!

Seems some developers and construction companies are trying to stretch the floor and height limits of wood framed buildings. There are several projects I think that'll wind up around 80+ feet high. I'm sure they wouldn't build em that way if they weren't safe. So I'm happy to see it.

¡Three bedroom units! Even if it's just in the townhomes, good stuff. Also, check out the photoshopping of 412 Lofts on Doran's website. They put it out in the country, from the looks of it.

That is to support the amenities floor that will be above it.

I will miss the neon Soap Box Factory sign. I wonder if SBF has any opinions on the developments that are being built / proposed around their site.

Glad to see this project moving along. I was down at Tuggs a few weeks back and it didn't even cross my mind to walk by to see the construction site. I know it's nothing compared to the grand projects that were originally plans for this area a few years back, but I honestly think this project will add to the community and take this area thrive even more.

The one thing I do think is missing is a small retail presence in the building. It would be nice to have a small convenience store located in this area which would service the 400-500 residence that live/will live within a block or two.

I think this will have a nice presence in that area, and it fills up land that was vacant for years. It completes the residential and commercial district on that side of the river with a nicely defined edge and focal point by the Stone Arch Bridge.

This was the first time I really went down this stretch of Main St before. I've mostly just been around the area filled with the restaurants and bars. I'm definitely more excited about this project now. This and the Pillsbury A Mill will really help this area of the river. The residents are going to have some fantastic views. With 375 units to boot, you're looking at probably 500+ more people in the area. Very exciting to finally see this stretch of vacant land redeveloped.

I agree with nickmgray regarding the street-level retail. It might not be totally justified right now, but if the A Mill goes through and eventually something infills that giant parking lot off university it will be a huge increase in people for one of the city's most underrated areas.

Yes , some practical neighborhood oriented businesses at the street level. There will definitely be enough people to support it. This is a great area and underrated as stated above. SE Main Street will soon be a lovely urban promenade with the parkland and river on one side, and the lively, dense mix of residential and commercial structures on the other.
