Bizarre story on the Strib not relating to this specific project, but to the developer:
http://www.startribune.com/local/minnea ... ml?refer=y

I find it strange that his last name is Minn.

This is visible from 35W now, which I wasn't expecting. It is taller than Mill & Main- the top floor or two may actually have some river views.

This is one of the reasons that I didn't mind Mill and Main being just low rise buildings, because the streets ramp up and taller development could be put up near University creating a really cool dense looking river front. Some cities just have a wall right there on the river and you can't see past the first row of buildings. I think I'll have to go drive 35w tonight just to see, thanks for the tip!

"Top floors may have river views"? Isn't this thing 10+ floors? Of course the top floors will have river views, especially since this is the first thing on this side of the river after crossing I-35W. I guess I'm confused that you would be surprised there's a view....

*Edit: I'm confusing this project with "The Bridges" project, which is 10+ floors. Yes, I agree with you that river views on even the top floor may be hard to come by, but I'm not sure that's the selling point for a project like this. I'm still excited to see how this thing turn out, as I've said before (probably a dozen or so times): this is one of my favorite project (designs)!

You can see some of the glass siding from the stone arch bridge now. I'm really impressed by the presence this project has, particularly from the bridge.

I think you're thinking of Stonebridge... Stone Arch 2 is the project that is going up behind Mill and Main on the East Bank... It just has about one floor above Mill and Main right now.

Any pics guys? I am dying to get to Minneapolis and have an outside shot of driving all the way up there (from Cleveland via Chicago) next weekend, but even if I make it there's no chance I'll have time to look at all that's happening around town.

I'm not sure what it is about that brick, but it just looks classier than most recent developments.

I don't know. I think this turned out pretty decent personally. They did a much better job on the masonry than its neighbor. ;)

I'm sad that it's cement board because it looked like it was going to be metallic I'm the rendering, but I still like the form and how it relates to the space.

Not terrible, but a dissapointment compared to the renderings. It had all the ingredients to be attractive. Agree Fotoapparatic, the carry through with cement board rather than metal paneling is the problem. The windows also should have been arranged in a more interesting pattern.

F'ing ripoff! I loved this project, but cement board will not do! Very disappointing!

Isn't cement board supposed to be limited to 30% of a building's surface, or is that just in certain cases?
