What was this project anyway. Can't remember a thing about it.

Wasn't this, 10th and Hennepin, the location they proposed building a 50-story plus convention hotel, in the event the new Vikings Stadium had been built at the Basilica site and the Legislature approved a Block E casino? Didn't Alatus propose this as a crown jewel in a sports-entertainment district?

Since the Vikings settled on building at the existing Metrodome site, and the Block E casino never got traction, this too, once promising skyline transformer, is likely dead.

Also, at one point, wasn't the downtown Lund's Store, that just opened, supposed to be located on the ground floor of another iteration of what would have been a multi-use tower?

Check out the link to the WCCO video story. The video shows a drawing of the Minneapolis skyline transformed by an amazing tower, intended to be a Las Vegas style hotel. Look closely, you can see the proposed Lund's store on the ground floor. This would have been another amazing buildings that seems to have forever eluded us.

At the time, didn't we confirm that that was an accidental reuse of a rendering from like ten years ago?

Yeah, that was the tower Bob Lux floated and had supposedly signed Lund's on for the ground floor...must be about 5 or 6 years ago...because it was after Lunds initial false start on their current location. I believe the companies name is Alatus. That Bob Lux is really starting to irritate me...he holds on to these prime properties with grand visions, but never seems to make anything happen. This is one of at least 3 major proposals from him that never came close to fruition.

That proposal for an office tower was floated when Targets lease at city center was nearing an end. When the lease at city center was renewed that was the end of the project. A grocery store and a hotel were included as components at the base of the tower. The design was done by elerbe becket /aecom.

Yep. Target staying in City Center killed multiple proposals. Can't really blame Lux.

All Bob Lux has proven thus far is that he likes to talk big and see his name in the press. If he really wants to make a name for himself, he would purchase some or all of the Star Tribune land and build a mixed-use tower that will help transform downtown's east end.

Unfortunately challenging a developer's pride on an online discussion board rarely results in new buildings.

Actually, I can't think of one documented case...

Good thing this online discussion board, right? Seriously though, I should have read my comment before posting it.

It's Atalus, right? Not Atlas?

Alatus, I think.

Should we have a mod change the threat title to avoid future angst and confusion?
