People's Theatre

Postby Andy » February 7th, 2014, 7:39 pm

Found this between the pages of an old book - it's about 4" by 6.5", made of a stiff cardboard-like material (much thinker than a postcard).

Anyone know more about the building? Richard Obee? A little googling tells me that Snyder Bros Photo was operational in the 1890's.

Is this "souvenir" rare/valuable? I am rich now?

Looks a bit like the old metropolitan opera house on Marquette. I'll do a little research. Interesting nonetheless.

Yep. I think that's it. Ephemera is hard to come by, consider handing it off the Minneapolis collection at the Library.

Good call - yeah, that's it. Found this photo which appears to be between the time of my photo/drawing and the one you posted which shows the top of the turret and the more elaborate entrance:

If this piece really is from the 1890's it's in remarkably good condition - I will take your advice and see if the library is interested.
