From last week, Lakeland asked Lake Elmo to hold their beer.

Now the mayor had powers stripped by the council.

City of Nowthen staff quits after bullying, harassment by Mayor and Councilmember: https://www.startribune.com/nowthen-thr ... 600113213/

Anyone know if the Rainville in this story has any relation to the Minneapolis political dynasty?

Wish more reporting on the suburban city situations had a bit more reporting because it does seem like only when things are embarrassingly out of control in a suburb does it rise to the attention of our media.

For instance, Hopkins where I live, voted out both the incumbent mayor and council person. Both received the fewest votes. In were elected progressives, and the council went from no minorities to half of the 4 council seats (excluding the mayor, who sits on the council) are minorities.

It was some kind of wave but it wasn’t any sort of shift to the right that is obvious.

Per her Strib obit, Alice Rainville had a daughter named Alice Mary Rainville.

Also learned from the obit that Jim Rice, who was in the legislature from the northside, was her brother in law. Jim Rice is the dad of lawyer to the park board and otherwise local operator, Brian Rice. https://www.lrl.mn.gov/legdb/fulldetail?id=10561

What a mess.

The James I Rice West River Parkway is named after Jim Rice. Former state senator Jeff Hayden said Brian "took his first steps at the state capitol." These folks and the Barb Johnson machine were behind LaTrisha + the previous four years of slowly undermining CM Cunningham.

The city of Ramsey has council people chasing veteran staff off. About 1/5 of total staff left since start of 2021.

Well tbf didn't the incumbent mayor only serve a partial term after he filled in for Cummings after she left? Although I disagree slightly that things need to be out of control to be reported, they just need to be embarrassing. Remember that one guy who tried to run for mayor, got some news for some complete garbage takes about the SWLRT, didn't even get 200 votes, and wound up in jail after threating a federal judge.

This seems bad. I am not surprised that Frey, his wife, Osman and enthusiastic Frey supporters are involved.

I didn't see a direct connection to Frey in either the CNN article or on the Strib article - can you help explain the connection? I don't necessariliy doubt it, I'm just not familiar enough with the names to make the connections myself.

Yesterday Aimee Bock walked up a downward moving escalator to avoid speaking with media.

Basically Frey and his staff have personally defend Feeding Our Families to the Minnesota Department of Education.

Frey will claim he had no idea, but its clear that it was never a charity. The Freyville is grift city.

Are you actually proposing that Frey was knowingly involved with a fraud scheme perpetuated on such a massive scale that there's no way it could escape notice?

One of his top aides was closely involved, and resigned/was fired the day the FBI raid came out in January. His wife's longtime employer appears to be Bock's attorney, and she left the firm in January, around the time that the FBI raided the Feeding our Future offices. https://www.startribune.com/two-former- ... CbfvtphuQg

The mayor claims he does not know Bock but also happened to use her talking points when meeting with MDE to press them to keep Feeding our Future going. https://twitter.com/ericandredion/statu ... nNzS_i2cSw

Frey is too smart to knowingly involve himself in an obvious fraud scheme but there are several people very close to him that are directly or peripherally connected to the whole thing. Not enough evidence to show he knew what was going on but definitely enough to insinuate there might be more to the story than what is currently public.

Hes a white shoe lawyer, he knows how to keep enough distance as to not be caught up.

I do not know how anyone would give him the benefit of the doubt here.

And wasn't the prosecuting US Attorney (Andy Luger) not long ago retained by the city for rather extensive services (while in private practice at Jones Day)?

It all looks rather fishy.

Some personal news--I'm so excited to announce that I've accepted a position as the city administrator of East Bethel.
