Not that I know of. I believe that even though they didn't endorse Cam, they did pass a resolution supporting him or some such thing.

I think Robin Garwood or someone had the text of the resolution on Facebook. Can't find it now.

Anyways, it was basically like...
"Recognizing Cam Gorden is uberprogressive and aligns with the values of DFL voters in the Ward,
Recognizing that the DFL can not endorse candidates of other party affiliation,
The Ward 2 DFL chooses to not endorse a candidate for City Council."

Basically a non-endorsement endorsement for Cam.

So assuming Jeremiah Ellison wins ward 5 (a pretty good bet, I'd say) and does not ally himself with Barb Johnson* (also a safe bet), doesn't it make Lisa Bender and Andrew Johnson frontrunners for council president? Lisa as president would be amazing.

* And Barb's reelection is by no means assured.

She does have a lot of connections. Probably got in too late to make a huge impact.

Saralyn Romanishan, source is her own Facebook feed.

She's been on the LHENA board for a long time and I served with her on the NRP committee back when that was a thing. While I don't agree with all of her positions, I do appreciate her willingness and ability to get things done. She's done a lot of good work in the neighborhood.

She's also called the city's Blueprint for Equitable Engagement a pogrom, and equated city planners with Nazi Germany leaders.

But hey, she helped give city money to white homeowners!

So, you know, both sides.

I don't know about her role in distributing city money but she got the NRP books straightened out, organizes neighborhood social events (particularly activities for kids) and promotes neighborhood meetings. I've also had good conversations with her about development though we are pretty much polar opposites on the subject.

So maybe try talking to people who disagree with you or something.

Did she lead the Wedge downzoning that furthered racial disparity, poverty, and housing unaffordability?

I'm sure plenty of unrepentant racists are perfectly pleasant to talk to in person.

obviously sounds like another deplorable who needs to go back to trumpland. How one can even stand to interact with these "people" is beyond me.

I couldn't see the tweet until I hit Reply, just so you know.

Anyway, what's the context around this? The image looks bad but I don't exactly trust John to give honest assessments of people with whom he disagrees.

I have never had the impression that Sara is racist. Anti-development, yes, but that's not the same thing. I have not been connected to her on Facebook for very long, though.

I can't believe I have to beat it through your thick "social justice minded" skull, Saralyn is blaming black people for slavery.

And that's a screenshot. There's no editorializing there. John took a screenshot of an abhorrent thing that Saralyn said and shared it, and you're accusing him of spin. Your centrist desire is so strong you'll excuse a racist because you can't say that anyone is wrong. Well, except John. So congratulations on defending racism? You are an absolute piece of work. At least be honest with yourself.

Yes, that's likely. What's the context? It is factual that *some* Africans contributed to the slave trade. Where people go horribly wrong is somehow equating that with the actions of white people and/or excusing the behavior of white people. Without context it's difficult to judge meaning here.

John has spun things so far out of reality so many times I don't trust him. I've talked to Sara and observed her interactions with people and I've never had a whiff of racism. Now it's not like I see her all the time or anything, so I don't have a complete picture. When something contradicts your lived experience, it's natural to question it. Your over-the-top reaction isn't helping things.

Ok, I had missed the top of the tweet because the link didn't show it until I clicked.

Yeah, this is bad. Really bad. What's the reacted text? I assume the name of the original tweeter. Who is it?

I apologize to John because it looks like he nailed this one.
