Wait, so are we underemployed, or are we greedy profiteering developers?

Also, how does one find and secure one of these apartments with free rent and free parking?

Saint Paul has been disappointed that when they heavily restricted where ADUs could be built (due to fears the city would be overrun with character destroying density?) that only one has been constructed.

St. Paul may consider expanding where they may be built to entice more.

Do people in (presumably) tiny ADUs generally own cars?

Why require an off-street parking space for an ADU in a city?

"At its April 16 meeting, the Union Park District Council Committee on Land Use and Economic Development unanimously supported ordinance changes that would make ADUs allowable citywide and allowing them to be built on parcels smaller than 5,000 square feet, as long as it is within the existing structure."

you gotta be kidding me... My lot is something like 4,900 square feet.... :|

The 5000 sq ft number includes 1/2 of the alley ROW.

The city was recommending NO ADUs on lots smaller than 5k. We made the addendum to our motion to support ADUs on smaller lots if they are within/ attached to the existing structure. This was largely a symbolic vote, as city staff has not yet included the entire city in the ADU policy changes. There is a LOT of support though, and we certainly hope they do! (and yes, the property line in St. Paul runs to the center-line of the alley.)

I guess there was one of these near me yesterday but I didn’t learn about it until today. Oh well.

There is a Home+Home ADU workshop in St. Paul on Oct 8 https://www.eventbrite.com/e/home-home- ... 3894126321

There is another Home+Home ADU workshop in Minneapolis on Oct 14. https://www.eventbrite.com/e/home-home- ... 3898290777

It’s my next big dream to add one above my garage.
