This seems to be a bit of a catch-all for lists. Not exactly a shocker (the info is pulled off WalkScore, but these lists never are much of a surprise, I suppose).

The most walkable neighborhoods in Minneapolis. Pretty much a list of what you'd expect. Though I'm actually pretty curious how Lyn-Lake beat out Uptown.

I'd say that they consider the greenway and the promenade as more a part of Lynlake ,than Uptown. While Uptown maybe walkable, most visitors arrive by car where I think that more of Lynlake are from the neighborhoods surrounding the area. Just my guess. Also you look at the point spread for many of these and they are only a few point apart which would be insignificant statistically. The difference between 1 and 10 is 9 points. Not a huge gap when you are looking at 100 points for your 100% data base.

What's that Downtown West place that got second? Do they mean WeDo?

Found it interesting that Lynlake with the 4, 114 , and 21, 53, beat out the Uptown for transit score (66). Uptown has the 6, 12, 17, 21, 23, 53, and 113, a score of (60).

That list confirms that the walk score is a terrible metric to use for actual walkability. The reality of almost all of those places is sidewalks that are too narrow and often obstructed, speeding cars just a few feet away and dangerous street crossings because of wide turn radius corners and a refusal of drivers to yield. No place in the city deserves anything higher than a C grade for walking and even that is generous. It's too bad there isn't a good way to quantify the actual walking experience.

I understand your shtick is 'everything is terrible' , but really? Nicollet Mall? Milwaukee Avenue? Washington Ave SE? What exactly is your grade A, B, or more importantly, which European city center would you most like to emulate?

Interesting how it changes with different metrics. For 4 bedroom homes top 8 are in California...and then Orono. And Medina 22nd.

I understand your shtick is 'everything is terrible' , but really? Nicollet Mall? Milwaukee Avenue? Washington Ave SE? What exactly is your grade A, B, or more importantly, which European city center would you most like to emulate?

Any of them? Seriously nicollet is more about sidewalk cafés than walking or serving as an actual transit spine (and I doubt this will improve with the redesign), Milwaukee is a two block aberration (albeit a pleasant one, but where are the pedestrian only business districts?), and Washington is marred by still trying to cater to automobiles on either end and insulting traffic control devices for pedestrians. Of the three Washington is probably the best these days, but if you're not a college student or employee good luck feeling comfortable around there or living nearby to take advantage of it.

I've been meaning to check one near me on Blake Road in Hopkins at I've seen continue to get rave reviews for a hole-in-the-wall joint.

Some pretty good company in Fodor's. Seems like the only one that's at a neighborhood level though, so kinda interesting.. Others are countries or states or cities.

I thought it was odd that they list a specific neighborhood and then recommend things outside that neighborhood. Why not just say "Minneapolis"?
