Except the very article you reference does provide pricing

Now, USI has bridged the gap and plans to debut in Q1 2016 the widest range of Internet speeds available, including 1, 2.5, 5 and 10 Gbps at $65/mo., $99/mo., $199/mo. and $399/mo., respectively.

Also, the http://fiber.usinternet.com site does have 2.5 gbps and 5gbps pricing listed too, as well as a press release article.

I believe the park and rec board have been slower to cooperate.

Wouldn't the fiber cross on the underside of bridges in city ROW?

Someone is bringing fiber down 18th St, starting at Chicago. Anyone have an idea who that may be? USI doesn't seem to have any plans to go north of Franklin.

I'm a little curious about this. Would the city really allow potentially up to three different competing fiber runs along the same streets (eg. USI, CenturyLink, Comcast)? Not that there's anything wrong with competition, but it seems like it'd add a fair amount of below ground physical congestion.

Organizations like Comcast and CenturyLink do a lot of aerial fiber because it is way cheaper and they have rights/access to many of the poles either shared or their own poles. USI does not have poles or access to poles while Comcast and CenturyLink are not particularly interested it allowing access to their poles, thus USI does the majority of its fiber under ground. Secondly, there is a lot of non-FTTH fiber that gets installed as part of various metro fiber networks that have building connections installed on a case-by-case basis. You won't see a lot of this happening in pure residential areas as much because it is usually businesses that are willing to pay for the higher up front cost for a single install to get connected... economies of scale and all that.

Unclear if it's related, but at least for an example, Hennepin County is running its own fiber.

CenturyLink ran fiber on the poles in our alley last summer. They'd only ever offered 1 meg service to our S. Minneapolis neighborhood previously, now they are much more competitive. Between that and USI, Comcast finally has some competition. They doubled speeds for the same price this summer. I left them for USI anyway, and haven't been disappointed.

Does anybody have experience with USI's TDM wireless service? Looks like it is available in limited areas of Minneapolis. Wondering if this service is going to be expanding around town, hopefully faster than the progress with fiber. Seems like it could be used to attract customers who are in areas where fiber isn't in place or planned for the next few phases.

Hey, this is curious... Tcarter612 if you have any insight... I live at 192x Aldrich Ave South. So just north of Franklin Ave on Aldrich. Everyone in our buildings today received a letter stating that US Internet Fiber was now installed on our street but not installed in our building. WHICH IS AWESOME!!! However, None of the coverage maps show our area being covered? Can you fill me in if we are covered or not? If we are I'll work on getting our association (1926 - 1932 Aldrich) to get installed and signed up. I have a feeling we received it on accident though :(

Service is coming this summer to your area, get your property manager on board and we will get your place wired.

Thanks for the support and I will keep you posted on construction progress.

mrs.shoes texted this afternoon to say "Fiber optic being installed." So that's fun! I'm curious to find out how quickly that gets lit.
