Milan

I saw there was a post about verticals forests coming to Milan back in 2013, but that was a fairly specific topic. Maybe a moderator would want to merge?

Anyway, here’s a story on how the Coronavirus city in Lombardy is strongly considering reducing car dominance of city streets and prevent a return to car pollution.

This would be great to see as currently the bicycle infrastructure is quite underdeveloped and disconnected. Minneapolis is really a ways ahead of Milan in that regard—even though central Milan’s density and terrain would make it an exceptionally bikeable city. There’s already multiple bike-share options and an excellent public transit system, so infrastructure seems to be the missing link in getting more people out of cars. The last significant push to upgrade the network was in anticipation of the World Expo in 2015, and even those plans haven’t been fully realized.
