'Wells Fargo' sign is going up on the Northwest side of the Western building (the further along one).
Re: Downtown East - Wells Fargo / Radisson Red / Edition Apt
Looks like they were having the official groundbreaking ceremony this morning. I saw a bunch of people in suits arriving, a table full of red hard hats and a backdrop that said, "this is red."
Meanwhile, there was heavy equipment digging in the hole behind them.

Walking by yesterday it looked like they were digging a basement for the Red. I can't tell if they are just clearing out old foundations that were behind, or if there truly will be a full basement . That would be different than the previous plans. They do have a basement tunnel particularly completed to the WF tower.Looks like they were having the official groundbreaking ceremony this morning. Last week they started putting metal panels on the screening. Looks much better than the just having the fencing up.I just wish that screening on top wasn't so easy to see through! Why couldn't they make it just a bit more opaque!!!??

I'll have to get a picture after work, but the "Wells Fargo" logo is now installed on on west tower (along 5th ave). It's huge, classy, wonderful.

The final crane is down from the office towers.

Also additional Wells signage going up this morning on the 4th street side of the west tower.
Re: Downtown East - Wells Fargo / Radisson Red / Edition Apt
The rooftop signage is about half done on the first building too.

Re: Downtown East - Wells Fargo / Radisson Red / Edition Apt
I guess I didn't appreciate the lack of building signage downtown until they put the new signage on this project. I'm certainly not offended by it, but I am disappointed to see it. It seems to stick out like a sore thumb (obviously what they are looking for).
Re: Downtown East - Wells Fargo / Radisson Red / Edition Apt
The signage issue really does make difference... Remember years ago visiting Denver and seeing 3 tall towers with Quest signage at the top... and two more shorter ones seen from certain angles... really ugly!!!!
Re: Downtown East - Wells Fargo / Radisson Red / Edition Apt
All you have to do is go to St. Paul to see the difference.
Re: Downtown East - Wells Fargo / Radisson Red / Edition Apt
I don't understand th signage objections, especially as we have so few of them. As long as the signs themselves are not garish, they can actually be something to look at.
Re: Downtown East - Wells Fargo / Radisson Red / Edition Apt
Again see St. PAul for what you can get. Companies don't want small signs. If they are to invest they want big very visible signs. That is what happened in St. Paul so that they could keep office tenants in buildings.

I personally don't mind signage on buildings. It's sort of the epitome of big tall buildings in a downtown. I don't mind the WF signage - they are a fundamental part of downtown.
