Like Nic, they maybe starting to lease apartments for a fall move in date. Putting a deposit down so you can get your choice of apartments before it opens up. Some units have better views than others that is for sure.Looks like the website now reads June 2015, which can't be right either. They still have two stories of stick to build plus all the interior work. I'd guess the opening will be closer to August or September, putting them a full year behind schedule.http://district600.com/
"Opening March 2015" (but likely not...the website hasn't been updated in a while)
The original target was September, so they're 6 months behind at a minimum.

Finally seeing some siding going up on the recently completed section. Hopefully they can get this enclosed and sided before the snow blows in.

Really does not seem to have moved along anymore than when I last looked at it at the 1st of the month. Maybe they finished the sides that face Fulton Brewery. But Grant's pics look like my last trip by there at the beginning of September.
Re: District 600 - 600 5th Street North
The Fulton facing sides aren't much further along either. This is still moving at a glacial pace, almost 2 1/2 years now since breaking ground. I rather doubt people will be moving in in November as the front page of their web site claims.
Re: District 600 - 600 5th Street North
I can look at my bedroom office window at the side that faces 5th St. and it just seems to be barely moving...I know they've been doing a ton of drywall on the inside but they seem to have a really light crew doing exterior work.
I did notice that they started putting some brick on the side that faces 6th Ave.

Windows with depth and unconventional dividers, interesting brickwork, and nary a MagicPak to be found. I'm surprised to see so many "expensive" details, given all the construction setbacks. Looks good!
The problem with being an introvert online is that no one knows you're just hanging out and listening.
Re: District 600 - 600 5th Street North
and this is supposed to be relatively cheap to rent compared to other new projects, too, right?
edit: Just looked it up on their website. $1,179 for a 1 br without windows in the bedroom, and $1,300 for a bedroom with windows. not too bad!

Wait, is no windows in the bedroom even legal?

The way they get around that are walls that don't meet the ceiling and sliding doors. Subdivided space, not real rooms that need egress.
Q. What, what? A. In da butt.
Re: District 600 - 600 5th Street North
I believe these are "alcove" type units where the walls do not go all the way to the ceiling, therefore technically not an enclosed room.idk, but that's how most of these new projects seem to have their cheapest unitsWait, is no windows in the bedroom even legal?

So in a fire you climb over the 8 foot wall section?

Yeah, I don't know. I don't live in one. I have a friend in the Soo Line Building and his apartment is like this.

No, it means the bedroom has faux walls that don't actually "enclose" the room. It still has a door and closet space, just walls that don't go to the ceiling, and no window. The main living area, (living/dining/kitchen) features a window. So in a fire you climb over the 8 foot wall section?
Re: District 600 - 600 5th Street North
Look at some of the 2-3 bedrooms units in the pricier buildings, at least one of the bedrooms will be on the inside away from any windows. Part of the joys of a deep apartment instead of the shallow like the old Towers on 1st street across from the post office.
