Rafter - 333 Hennepin Ave E (290' - 26 stories)
Re: Mortenson / USBank project - 333 Hennepin Ave E
I wouldn't doubt they'd also be able to be grandfathered in with a variance, being they are the original land owners as well, regardless.
My point here is that you won't sound any different than any other loony NIMBY at that meeting if you don't present something other than THEY CAN'T, I DON'T WANT IT, PEDESTRIANS, ACCIDENTS!
I understand your concern, and agree for the most part, but I'm not sure what a better solution is given they're giving up their sprawling single use building for a much more dense multipurpose development, things will get messy with more density of uses, something has to give.

As I look at the site plans I wonder if this jumble could be solved by simply reversing traffic flow in the lot. Entering the drive through from 4th, and then exiting with a left turn on 1st.
Re: Mortenson / USBank project - 333 Hennepin Ave E
I'm fine with them building a one story replacement bank and while I don't like the drive through I can even tolerate that. It's the huge curb cut that bothers me. I don't want to stop their development by any means, so I'm not NIMBYing on this. But the border of the pedestrian overlay avoiding first ave is almost certainly going to change in the near future so throwing something up that flies in the face of it is a little annoying. I'll live but I want to voice my concerns in the input process.

Actually I was thinking the same thing. But they probably want the window to the building on the driver's side ):As I look at the site plans I wonder if this jumble could be solved by simply reversing traffic flow in the lot. Re: Mortenson / USBank project - 333 Hennepin Ave E
This is going to looks a little ridiculous right next to the residential tower. I know the bank isn't interested in property management, but there's probably enough office space demand to justify a 4-8 floor office building here with the bank as the main retail tenant on the bottom floor. They would still be able to find a drive-through in the back or under the building quite easily.
Re: Mortenson / USBank project - 333 Hennepin Ave E
The article I posted in the alatus thread stated that this was really disliked by the neighborhood and is being downsized.

No that was about the Nye's development. This one wasn't mentioned as far as I can tell.

I was told today that this is still moving forward. I was a little worried since we haven't heard about it in a while.

Nothing like a fresh drive-thru to get the blood flowing.

http://finance-commerce.com/2016/07/dee ... p-efforts/Three quarters of an acre at 333 E. Hennepin Ave. in Minneapolis that Golden Valley-based Mortenson Development plans as the site of a 28-story apartment tower. DEED awarded $366,000 clean up pollutants left behind by a former car repair shop and offices.
I think we can safely file this project under "not dead". Not to mention that it's Mortenson and they aren't the type to mess around. 4Marq took forever to get off the ground and this project is even more complex, with having to construct a new USBank building first, before even getting to demo.
