The State Farm building will be demolished to make way for four new 3-4 story office buildings.

Wow, is that New York or Woodbury?!
Re: "City" "Place" - Woodbury
It's about damn time New York built more parking lots, my car has to go somewhere!
Re: "City" "Place" - Woodbury
It's not too often you find an office building that doesn't last as long as a major league sports stadium.

Re: "City" "Place" - Woodbury
They started tearing down the former State Farm building this week. About halfway demolished now. The north side looks like a bomb went off.
Re: "City" "Place" - Woodbury
Not much left. Seems weird driving by, though the new hotel is rather large but sits well below where the office building was.
Re: "City" "Place" - Woodbury
I had no idea about this. DeAngulo’s company, Elion Partners, plans to build three to five office towers where State Farm stood. “It could vary depending on what the market brings,” he said. No specific tenants have been named. http://www.startribune.com/state-farm-e ... 367110461/

Re: "City" "Place" - Woodbury
I caught that too....I don't recall seeing towers if any kind in the conceptual renderings, so this is either a fun update or them twisting the word "tower" to include 4-story suburban boxes.
Re: "City" "Place" - Woodbury
Ah, I do see 2 office components here after all and now that the State Farm building is gone I can see where they can squeeze in a few more. http://m.bizjournals.com/twincities/blo ... pment.html

I don't know how they'll find the space...

Oh I get it, your first response was elitism and the second was just elitist sarcasm. Enjoy your clouds.

? ? I thought we were joking around...I can't get heated about a suburban office park that easily -- I'm not even sure what you're mad about ("I don't know how they'll find the space" is a jab at the project's sea of surface parking lots....I'm sure they can literally squeeze in a couple office buildings, you're right).Oh I get it, your first response was elitism and the second was just elitist sarcasm. Enjoy your clouds.
Re: "City" "Place" - Woodbury
I over reacted. I'm just happy to see this space being used again after so many years. It's not perfect but it certainly will have more life to it for more hours of the day then the previous use. It's too bad they didn't throw in a few housing components.

It's also too bad they (Elion) haven't lobbied for it to be served by the Gold Line. Their strong support may have been enough to change the political winds in Woodbury and Washington County and the whole Lake Elmo fiasco could've been avoided.
Re: "City" "Place" - Woodbury
I mean, he really does make some good points. As far as "malls" go, I actually kind of agree with him. On the other hand, there is something to be said for more winter-friendly, enclosed type malls when you're already conceding automobile dependence.
Re: "City" "Place" - Woodbury
I do have to laugh at the claim in the article that "there are no vast plains of parking" at City Place. Have they even been there? No matter how they dress it up, it's still a strip mall full of parking that's not really all that walkable.

Looks like they are going to get the first Alamo Drafthouse Cinema in the Twin Cities. Hopefully that means more locations will be coming soon.
