Didn't seem to bother the opponents...

And the trees at Coors Field didn't deem to bother Cuddy while he played there.

And the Twins won 94 games in 2010, the only season that the batter's eye pine trees were in place.

A couple guys whined (namely, Cuddyer) and the trees were removed. The arbor vitae shrubs they later installed were pretty lame anyways and won't be missed. Maybe this'll be the impetus to get the trees back in the batter's eye?

Could we at least grow some ivy? The current black panels create a batter's eye that does not mesh with the style of the stadium.

The Target Field bonds are now on schedule to be paid off a decade ahead of time.

Strib article.

I hope they do. It will take away ammunition that bonds for public/private buildings leave taxpayers on the hook. It will show that that can be used when there is a strong product. The stadium is strong, the Twins are so so. But the Pohlads keep investing in the stadium which is a good thing.

Hopefully the United Properties can get the office tower build and filled and that will be another feather in their cap. This is what the Metrodome should have done. Unfortunately the city seemed to run more interference than promotion for the DTE land to get developed back then. There are at least a good half dozen projects that use Target Field/Target Field station as a marketing tool. Something that was not done in the 80's.

Any news of the new center field restaurant/bar? Opening day is just over a month away and I have yet to see an article or pictures!

Good, hopefully when the Target Field bonds are paid off in 2026, the county can have some mercy and redirect subsequent revenues to our Vikings debt until that is also retired.

I'm going off of very hazy memory, but aren't the Target Field bonds and related revenue stream at the county level? Not sure they can be redirected toward city obligations easily.

Correct - as the law currently stands, the Hennepin Co .15% sales tax is only for the Twins Stadium and some odds and ends, and it goes away once the stadium is paid off.

Of course, the legislature could always amend that...

All this gets to a real issue we have (regardless of how you feel about them in the first place)- all these sports facilities are owned by different gov't bodies and there's zero coordination between them

There's an open appointment for the Ballpark Authority (Governor appoints), which I assume was the seat Martin Sabo held until he died. Who's applying? http://www.sos.state.mn.us/index.aspx?page=308

Good thing, too, as the view inside the stadium is a smoldering tire fire of a disaster (going to the game Wed).

The Twins had a good win on Sunday when I went. Plus, two helicopters did a low fly-over for military appreciation day. Good luck on Wednesday.

Care to elaborate? Which view inside the stadium? I'm not sure that I disagree, but...

I went to the game yesterday - upper deck behind home plate. I only go a couple times a year, so this might not be an issue for the regulars, but there were so many scoreboards and so much data presented everywhere (batter's birthplace, how their last at-bat was scored, last pitch speed and type, etc.) I couldn't even find the basic count for the current batter. Is it 2 and 1 or 3 and 1? Took me forever to find it.

Anyway, I think the view from the lower decks down the third baseline looking back toward downtown is beautiful. Our ugliest tall skyscraper is featured prominently, but what can you do about that.

He's talking about the twins' performance this season. Not any particular view of the city.
