Wedgeguy
Wedgeguy
It's with great sadness I have to report that streets.mn forum blogger Wedgeguy died suddenly last Monday, March 21. As you all are well aware, he was very passionate about urban design and planning and was a big contributor to both this site and on Skyscrapercity. I knew him for over 25 years, and we had a longstanding tradition of meeting several times a year taking long walks around downtown Minneapolis, St Paul, and Uptown to view and discuss the latest development projects. We were kindred spirits in our views on urbanism, and it made me so happy to have somebody to share this great passion with for so many years. Many of you are probably not aware of this , but Wedgeguy (Allen) was also a very talented gardener, and created one the most beautiful urban gardens in The Wedge neighborhood at the home where he lived for many years. He was a true urbanist and way ahead of his time in his vision and values of what truly makes a city great. I will miss you Wedgeguy very much and I have so much gratitude you were part of my life. John .

Wow, sad to hear. John, I'm not sure if if would be welcome or not or what the arrangements are... but I bet a few forum folks would consider showing up to any services that are forthcoming.

I'm gobsmacked. Sincere condolences, John.
The problem with being an introvert online is that no one knows you're just hanging out and listening.

Wow, that's really too bad. I know I'll miss reading his thoughts. Thanks for sharing, John.

Re: Wedgeguy
Thanks everyone for the kind words for Allen. He really enjoyed this forum and I'll miss his very spirited comments and perspective. He really loved living in our dynamic Twin Cities, and enjoyed watching it grow and evolve over the years. All of Allen's friends and family ( including myself) are still in a state of shock and disbelief at his unexpected passing away. The funeral service will occur in his hometown in northern Iowa, however, there will be a memorial service for him in Minneapolis sometime later this spring. I will update the forum as to when that occurs.
