Well isn't that interesting. I had assumed those were the original windows they were replacing, but no! The tax credits require restoration, and in this case it's definitely beneficial.

I love the new/old configuration, but I do prefer the bronze color in contrast with the Minnesota dolomite. The aluminum is kind of garish. The historic photo makes it look like a dark metal as well. Net positive for sure though.

How tall of ceilings will these hotel rooms have. Were the old/remodeled windows With the dark metal that small in reality. I'm sure they had high ceilings and large windows that was probably to allow lots of light into the office space or if those were mail sorting floors, back before the addition, that needed light to keep it from feeling like a dungeon.

Custom House is now showing model units, a 1 bedroom on the 6th floor with a view of TPT and a 2 bedroom on the 12th floor looking west towards the river. They seemed small for the price, 18" wide dishwasher for example. Weird detail in the hallways, they retained a lot of door frames but then filled them with drywall so you see where a door was. And there were a lot of doors.

This is from about two weeks ago, but the Custom House gets the lead mention in a NYT article about housing trends in downtown St. Paul:

So are they planning on replacing the rest of the windows on this portion of the building? I suspect the top floor windows were replaced because they redeveloped that into exercise room/party room/...
