I would pay a dollar fee to not have to use those slow piece of shit electronic pay boxes where the screen doesn't work when it's cold out and the credit card slot doesn't work half the time no matter what time of year it is.To resurrect a thoroughly beaten horse, it appears that lots of people are happy to pay the excessive 25 cent fee to use the parking meter phone app.

This guy is projecting an ad on the Ceresota building. Is this allowed? Shouldn't be.

Re: Downtown Minneapolis General Topics & Development Map
Well, did you ask if he had a permit? Cause I think it's allowed if you have permission.
Re: Downtown Minneapolis General Topics & Development Map
I couldn't get much information out of the guy; just that he's a freelancer, and that he "put's it where they tell him to." He wouldn't say who "they" are. I didn't think to ask if he had a permit, unfortunately.
Here's a company that offers the service, and lists Minneapolis as one of their markets:

"Guerilla Projection advertising is the projection of advertising images or video content to create instant digital billboards on the exterior of building surfaces at night without city or property owner permission."

I feel like if this were my business model, I probably wouldn't foreground the "no permission" part.
Re: Downtown Minneapolis General Topics & Development Map
Also, I'm not sure where to put this, but there was also a rendering for a project on West Bank which appeared to be on the "Love Power Jesus" block (not sure if it was the whole block or just part) showing a tower of some height, a bit taller than the Courtyard Hotel. It looked to be residential and was titled "Heptagram" but I can't find any other information about the project. Probably quite preliminary. The design looked pretty good but I only saw it briefly.

Oh, I get it. Ha
Q. What, what? A. In da butt.
Re: Downtown Minneapolis General Topics & Development Map
There's a ton of room on the back half of that block, would be a great place for something tall.
I'd chain myself to the door if they tried to demolish the Bullwinkle's building, though. 1890!

Agreed, it's a nice row of storefronts that just need a little investment.

*locked*: http://finance-commerce.com/2016/04/hou ... r-stadium/Pretty sure there was a proposal for the First Covenant lot next to the stadium.
6 stories of workforce housing with retail (and pretty god damn generic).

Do you mean the outside of the building is Generic?
Re: Downtown Minneapolis General Topics & Development Map
I'm a little confused. Doesn't Hubert's own the NW corner of this lot where the billboard is? I thought I read in the article where they announced remodeling that they didn't want to sell.

This is showing the NE corner of 7th & Bud Grant Way, from what I can tell. My guess is that Hubert's location is hidden behind this building in the rendering.I'm a little confused. The Northstar Center is getting a NRHP nomination for some godforsaken reason:
http://minneapolismn.gov/www/groups/pub ... 178752.pdf
Even worse, they're codifying the 1960's changes made to the Pillsbury Building as the historically significant period, so the metal spandrels will never be coming back. Gross.

The current all-glass windows on the Pillsbury Building are actually later than the significant period. Here's a picture from 1963 when the complex opened (note the spandrels):

Re: Downtown Minneapolis General Topics & Development Map
Is it really that hard to make a PDF rather than print and scan the same document 20 times?
The federal government needs some serious document management reform because holy crap that's awful.

Hennepin County Government Center's fountain and pool are closed for repair until September. They currently have fencing around it while they work. As much as I like the fountain, I really wish there was a large-scale sculpture in this plaza (either in place of or in addition to the fountain).

Re: Downtown Minneapolis General Topics & Development Map
This is literally the worst thing ever for a large share of Star Tribune commenters. What a waste of $3.5 million! That money could be used to rebuild a critical interchange, or add a lane to the beltway, or something.
Re: Downtown Minneapolis General Topics & Development Map
If they just got rid of the comments section of the star tribune the world would automatically be a 5% better place
