Awesome! Nice to see an urbanmsp'er contribute with more than just words! I'm envious, I'm not gonna lie. Anything you can do to help fill in Bloomington.

Oh how I pray that I will someday have enough money to have a home with a "master foyer."

Wow that masonry on the front is rather tacky. The garage doors are as well.

I see there's scaffolding up around New Franklin Theater, finally.
Google doesn't tell me what the ultimate plans are for the use of the building.
Anyways, thrilled I won't have to look at those crumbling bricks for long.

Actually that project died. First & First sold it. I believe it will office space for PPL next door. There was some hope for community use space but I'm not sure how that conversation ended up.

Anyone know what's happening at 412 E 48th Street? There's a small commercial building there (looks empty) that has something about a variance to adjust the lot boundaries posted on it. Applicant listed seems to be some kind of housing builder.

Ah yes I have the site plans for that if you want me to email them. Basically the developer is proposing to re-plat it as two new SFHs. One of the lots will require some slight variances for setback, but the two lots will be extremely similar to "regular SFH lots" oriented towards 5th Ave S. Just two new houses.

Looks like a nice building. Basically impossible to tell from that rendering which parcels are involved. I'll be sorry to see that 1913 warehouse disappear if it's included, though. It's almost the last remnant of what was once the heart of this area:
(Warehouse is south of the Cedar/RR intersection in this picture, the tall building casting a shadow. Basically the only other survivors are the two bars on Cedar north of Franklin.)

Looks like a new music venue is moving into the old Patrick's Cabaret space at Lake Street and Hiawatha.

Re: Southside - General Topics
This was the old shell of a building which had looked like a (brand new) blown out bunker for the last decade? Glad to see this finally get developed.
Re: Southside - General Topics
Looks like they're Sabriing that building.
Re: Southside - General Topics
A kickstarter for this venture is happening tonight (9/8) from 7:30pm until 10:00pm at Du Nord Craft Spirits on Minnehaha. Ms. Turner is hoping to have the restaurant on Minnehaha Ave.

In other Minnehaha news, apparently Ming's, the long-standing restaurant on 38th and Minnehaha, has been bought and the owners intend to do an asian-fusion restaurant. No info on timeline.

Anyone remember this proposal? I'm assuming it's dead now that the architects posted the renderings on their site.

Chicago Ave restaurant news:
• The space on 48th Street just west of Chicago which was formerly home to shitty Chinese food has new awnings and a sign for Korean BBQ coming soon. This intrigues me!
• The former First Course space just south of 56th is now home to Xavi. http://www.xavirestaurant.com

The problem with being an introvert online is that no one knows you're just hanging out and listening.

Re: Southside - General Topics
The Korean BBQ joint is just going to be take-out at first. I'd love to see some sort of pocket park at 48th and Chicago. Or maybe they'd sponsor a parklet.
