Can't wait to see the light-emitting concrete in person.

Re: Downtown Minneapolis General Topics & Development Map
as seanrichardryan said, this has been done for a while. They put some LED light strips in the cutouts. Not really sure why you guys find this so funny...

The Depot is planning to extend its event center into the portion of the train shed used for parking:

I wonder if they'll keep the skating rink.

Re: Downtown Minneapolis General Topics & Development Map
With all the development happening around the green line light rail stations, I am surprised that nothing has been built on either of the parking lot just south of Hennepin/warehouse district station. I know the parking lot to the east of Hennepin Avenue has that big Miral on it. The parking lot west of Hennepin Avenue I believe is either contract or public parking. Any thoughts?

Re: Downtown Minneapolis General Topics & Development Map
The only thing I can think of is developers view the block of strip clubs and night clubs next door as a potential problem for tenants. Especially because whenever some suburbanite claims Downtown Minneapolis is dangerous, they're really referring to that block in particular.

It would be kind of nice if we could get a convenience store/CVS or something like that. Hopefully one day the black will be redeveloped. Maybe it could include some underground district parking.

A couple downtown projects in line for Met Council cleanup grants, which hopefully will move them toward construction soon: http://finance-commerce.com/2016/12/met ... ants/?ep=1
The Foundry - $406k
Ironclad - $262k
Lots of non-downtown projects in line for smaller grants as well, including FrankLyn

What are we looking at here?
Re: Downtown Minneapolis General Topics & Development Map
The remodeling work being done on the 5th Street towers. They were supposedly connecting the floor plates and adding a roof top amenity deck iirc

A "project" titled "Gallery Test" that isn't linked from their project page? I'm going to say not at all serious.

Just for clarification, that's the downtown YMCA's current location at LaSalle Plaza (30 S 9th St). I'm sure that wasn't immediately obvious to everyone. It took me a second. The fact that the webpage title is "Building Reposition" helped narrow it down.
Here's a streetview for anyone that isn't familiar: https://www.google.com/maps/@44.9759316 ... 56!6m1!1e1
Has the Y even lined up a buyer yet? This mock-up might be what they're going to use in their marketing materials. I'm guessing a renovation quite this extensive won't happen at all...and nothing will happen without a big office tenant on board.

Anyone know what's going on the old LaSalle Court atrium? The escalators haven't worked for months and now the atrium is boarded up.

There is a sign next to it (or at least there was as of last Friday) that says they are building a new staircase there.Anyone know what's going on the old LaSalle Court atrium? The escalators haven't worked for months and now the atrium is boarded up.
Re: Downtown Minneapolis General Topics & Development Map
I mentioned in the Office Market thread, I heard a rumor that the new Post Office is going into that spot in 811 LaSalle too!
