Re: 129 Plymouth Ave N
Planning Commission voted to deny this last week. Dan Cohen was the only vote in favor. Gary Schiff was not present.
The appeals go before the Zoning & Planning Committee this Thursday morning. I'm very curious how the vote goes down. Last time around (2009) when this project was approved, there was a different council in place. I could easily see the current Z&P Committee siding with the Planning Commission and CPED staff's recommendation to deny.

Are you talking about the Nov 12 meeting? I'm currently watching it, and holy crap a 3 and a half hour meeting. Schiff is here at the beginning, does he leave at some point?

Re: 129 Plymouth Ave N
For reference as to what any developer should be proposing-
1955- NW & SW corners of Plymouth & Washington.

Q. What, what? A. In da butt.
Re: 129 Plymouth Ave N
God pictures like that just make the present so depressing.

Sorry, it was the 10/28 CPC meeting, not last week. I'm thinking about emailing Tuthill, to encourage her to vote against the development.

if you do, you should pm a copy of it to me and I'll send her a slightly modified version!Sorry, it was the 10/28 CPC meeting, not last week. I'm thinking about emailing Tuthill, to encourage her to vote against the development.

Wow! Hard to believe that is the same intersection. It bears no resemblance to the present day whatsoever. This must be before I94?

Danny's bar looks awesome. I will contribute to any kickstarter campaign to recreate that on the corner.

EDIT: Only one member of the public spoke.
They granted the appeal. Boo. Lisa Goodman is terrible. She crapped all over a city planner to her face. It was incredibly unprofessional. Gary Schiff had to apologize (sort of) for Goodman's behavior, to which Goodman had some sassy retort.

Holy crap. Their bringing this back to the North Loop neighborhood asking for approval. Could the strip mall on Cedar be setting a precedent for what our city is going to allow? By the way, this includes a drive thru.

One of these just got built in Chanhassen. That should be reason enough to deny it.

The Chanhassen version has better street frontage...One of these just got built in Chanhassen. That should be reason enough to deny it.

Re: A Strip Mall - (129 Plymouth Avenue North)
This would basically put a end to the North loop development continuing the head up the river
Re: A Strip Mall - (129 Plymouth Avenue North)
Realistically, it wasn't going to cross Plymouth Avenue anyway.
This is a disappointing project, no doubt, but this was always a weird site.

It's started to cross 10th. Give in 5 more years and we'll see the movement into the industrial zone.

Re: A Strip Mall - (129 Plymouth Avenue North)
There's at least one fun development coming north of Plymouth over there, so why not roll the dice and wait...
Re: A Strip Mall - (129 Plymouth Avenue North)
I kind of doubt it. If anything, it will start heading west across the viaduct like it already has been doing. That's where the LRT lines are going anyways, while nothing is planned currently on I-94.It's started to cross 10th. Give in 5 more years and we'll see the movement into the industrial zone.

No, there's a river though. And a master plan for that river. And a few sites that are already slated for redevelopment.

I guess that's a question for Steve Minn, who owns the land. There's at least one fun development coming north of Plymouth over there, so why not roll the dice and wait...
