Bdubs opening their small store format somewhere in Uptown. I'm guessing Davanni's?

"Todd Kronebusch, Buffalo Wild Wings vice president of market development, said the company has agreed to a deal to take over the Tum Rup Tai space at 1221 W. Lake St., Minneapolis."

Re: Uptown Retail & Restaurant News
I figured Tum Rup Thai wouldn't stick around forever after its sister Roat Osha moved into Calhoun Square just a block away. I'm almost certain they have the same ownership, if not identical menus too. Both restaurants are in tax delinquency with the state. Hopefully the closure of Tum Rup is enough to stabilize Roat Osha. The rent at Calhoun Square is high and they have a huge space (former Chiang Mai space).
The loss of 3 Thai restaurants in ~2 years would be pretty wild for Uptown...if Roat Osha goes too, Amazing Thailand would be the only one left!

I for one am excited about the possibilities of BWW leveraging its new business overlord (and fairly adjacent neighbor) Arbys for some awesome sauce and curly fry crossover action.

And now Arby's is competing with itself on kitty corner blocks. Maybe if BWW draws enough business away from Arby's Island, we can finally get something developed there.

Something up with Heyday? It's been closed the last two nights when I've passed by, but nothing noted on their website.

Not Uptown.
Snapology filled that long vacant space next to Bob's Java Hut. A lot of your kids are going to love this.

Victoria’s Secret is closing the Uptown location.
Good opportunity for a joke post or tweet about all the chains closing in Uptown (as to the typical “Uptown is all chains these days” nonsense)

Sadly it looks like the only looks like owners don't own any of the properties located next to this building so I'm guessing it will get refilled with a different national chain and not redeveloped into something better.

Built 1993. What was it built as originally?
Re: Uptown Retail & Restaurant News
It was a Gap before it was a Victoria's Secret, right?

Yes. The Gap replaced a building that burned in like 91'.

Re: Uptown Retail & Restaurant News
Hmmm... looks like the building owner opted not to renew the lease with VS after 10 years, rather than VS closing by choice. They must think they can land an even bigger fish.
On the subject of landing bigger fish, what the hell is up with the Suburban Theater? Are they ever going to find a tenant? Holding out for 1-2 years seems reasonable, but it's been 4 years since the current owner bought it. What gives?

Re: Uptown Retail & Restaurant News
My guess is that they already had a few (several?) brokers contact them with much more appealing offers than whatever VS signed onto 10 years ago. This is a prime corner so people have it on their radar. I'm with Magrino on this one: Uniqlo or bust!!Hmmm... looks like the building owner opted not to renew the lease with VS after 10 years, rather than VS closing by choice. My fiancé and I were in Chicago over the weekend. We went to that store. Was pretty cool. Would be neat to get one of them here in Minneapolis.[screaming] Uniqlo, Uniqlo, Uniqlo, Uniqlo,

Re: Uptown Retail & Restaurant News
Or Topshop/Topman. I hate fast fashion buuuuuut.
Re: Uptown Retail & Restaurant News
Glad Victoria's Secret is gone. Kind of a lame retail chain for that intersection. Uniqlo and Topman would be a much better fit.
