MN Daily has an article on some unique concerns neighbors have about a proposed six story apartment building at 25th and Riverside.
Sit down for this: "“It’s the density – I think it’s just congested ... [There are] people trying to get into the parking ramp for work, and people trying to get into Starbucks for coffee."
"A suggestion to reduce density included bringing the number of stories down to four."
The developer "said it wouldn’t be financially feasible to cut the number of stories in the planned building."
I don't think this type of reaction and discussion has ever happened before.

That would sure be a nice improvement to this block.

What residents are making this complaint? Aren't the vast majority of the residents in this neighborhood renting? Of all of the 6-story bricks to be built in the city, this is one that actually has some aesthetic appeal.

Just a guess, but I suspect the couple blocks of SFHs just to the east of the site.

My wife was faculty at St. Catherine's for a few years, parked frequently in the ramp behind this or got dropped off by me at the end of 25th Ave S. Yeah, there's not congestion at all.

Most of the buildings on site are all boarded up!

Excavation has started. It's so nice to see a project that has their ducks in a row and can hit the ground running after city approval.

Does this project make the Davanni's site a forever building now?

Project is called "Luna." They are advertising being open for September.

I'm interested to see if this spurs other apartment projects in Cedar-Riverside or Seward. Those neighborhoods have basically been ignored during the recent building boom.
