Biking by on the Cedar Lake Trail this weekend, it looked like heavy equipment has arrived on site? Did this get approved?
Re: Calhoun Towers - 3430 List Place (2x 281' - 24 stories)
I wonder if the equipment could be for the Southwest light rail?

This hasn't gone to the actual CPC for approval yet. It went to the Committee of the Whole in mid-April.

1. A parking ramp at 3121 Chowen Ave S was approved in January. That could explain the construction.
2. The Calhoun Towers will be on the agenda for the July 16 Planning Commission.

I like this project...but I must admit, I am sad about the large amount of very large Cottonwood trees that will be lost for it. That will really change the feel of the area. They are kind of a green wall over there right now.

Thrilled that the first phase is one of the towers. Get it out of the ground and happening before any downturns please and thank you

Odds of this becoming another Accenture Building where the first tower is built, a recession happens, and the second tower never happens?

Ominous timeline indeed.
Re: Calhoun Towers - 3430 List Place (2x 281' - 24 stories)
Funny thing is...the tower that is there already from the 60s was supposed to have a twin.

Call me an optimistic, but I 100% see the Surface Board ruling in favor of Met Council, and breaking ground late this year or early next year. Also before SWLRT is cancelled / delayed indefinitelyThrilled that the first phase is one of the towers. Re: Calhoun Towers - 3430 List Place (2x 281' - 24 stories)
Does this timeline make it hard to fill the first tower? Move into a construction zone can be rough.Phase .......... Commencement .......... Completion Date .......... Description
Phase A ....... Early 2019-2020 .......... 2022 ........................... 243 unit, 26 story tower
Phase B ....... 2022-2024 .................. 2026 ........................... 256 unit, 26 story tower

This was approved by the CPC tonight. Can't imagine how it doesn't get appealed, but it's a step.

Update: this did not get appealed, and the City Council signed off on the rezoning today. They can get started whenever at this point.

Re: Calhoun Towers - 3430 List Place (2x 281' - 24 stories)
From what I read in the article, it sounds like the affordable portion will not be billed until the very end of the development. That’s really unfortunate. We are in such dire need of affordable housing.
