Re: Soo Line Building Apartments - (501 Marquette Avenue)
Thanks for posting all of these pictures! It's a great to get all of these projects documented, and really helps show just how much is going on!

“floating glass” staircase Don't people have a natural fear of heights? Also if they allow dogs I wonder how pets would climb those style of stairs! I hope this is not a growing trend! ...could you imagine a 40 floor building with 100% glass staircase! :OSounds like some pretty sweet amenities: http://journalmpls.wordpress.com/2012/1 ... wednesday/

Canada is part of America too. Why, that's downright un-American! I had thought that they were going to call it CP Plaza, which I was thinking was to "hide" that it is a foreign-owned company. Guess not! I like the sound of Canadian Pacific Plaza better than CP Plaza, anyway.

Just wanted to point out the obvious.

Re: Soo Line Building Apartments - (501 Marquette Avenue)
Marquette was closed down this afternoon while a very large crane did something. I assume they were hauling old mechanicals off the roof, but I didn't get a good look.
Q. What, what? A. In da butt.
Re: Soo Line Building Apartments - (501 Marquette Avenue)
Hopefully they're not planning on cutting a bunch of holes in the facade for Magic-Pak units to replace the old mechanical units...

The skyway through this building is open again, hooray.

Thanks for all the updates! Looks like you had a nice walk today.
Re: Soo Line Building Apartments - (501 Marquette Avenue)
I can't wait for the windows to be restored on the second/third floor area. Such an amazing old building!
Re: Soo Line Building Apartments - (501 Marquette Avenue)
Was thru the rerouted skyway level the other day. Will be interesting to see how that level is reconfigured

Yes it is! Such an under-rated project given all the new construction going on. But this building would be a real treat to live in.This is just such a classy building.

I feel like this building, along with Loring Park Office Building, would be great candidates to have some/all of the units marketed as ownership condos, rather than apartments. Both are incredibly prime locations in historic buildings...we're not exactly making more of those.
Re: Soo Line Building Apartments - (501 Marquette Avenue)
Yes, I agree with you. And I am wondering if one or the other will be converted to condos in a few years. Same thought I have for 1368 Lasalle.I feel like this building, along with Loring Park Office Building, would be great candidates to have some/all of the units marketed as ownership condos, rather than apartments.
