Plans for a new development near Dinkytown.
1202 4th St SE
Re: 2012 4th St SE
I'd always assumed that blue building (2014? 4th St SE) was protected in the fraternity historic district.

I'm not sure this in an improvement. They are removing fine grained urbanism and replacing it with a half block project.

Quarter block but it's still a horrible project so far.
300+ beds but chalked full of amenities (waaay too many). This should have retail and just a basic lobby. We're trying to get cheaper houses here all.

D'oh, *1214 4th St SE. Once home of Alpha Kappa Phi, which quickly became Phi Kappa Sigma. Built 1884. It's talked about in the designation study for the district, but I don't have access to that right now.I'd always assumed that blue building (2014? 4th St SE) was protected in the fraternity historic district.
Not to say that every building that ever had a fraternity or sorority in it should be deemed historic--or even that this one should be--but I really like that building, and I'll be sad to see it go for something as bland as this.

They are replacing a significant chunk of naturally occurring affordable housing with something that will be much more expensive. That isn't the direction we should be going in. I would love this project if it was on a vacant lot, not in an already built out area.Quarter block but it's still a horrible project so far.

Hey man, 3-plexes are on the way to save the day....no worries.
Re: 1202 4th St SE
Construction fencing went up for this one last week. Traffic has been reconfigured on this block of 4th by getting rid of the bike lane and keeping all three car lanes. Yay for complete streets.
