I ran by this today, and I'm not sure, but it looked like the perimeter is about twice as wide as it was a couple weeks ago.

Yeah this appears to have a larger footprint than just the basement.

The circular part on the north side is up. I want some ice cream!

I almost can't believe how much attention people are giving this little thing, but I realize it's also pretty fun. Hopefully it turns out to be a small Minneapolis icon!

I agree this is not huge. But for the sake of discussion, could anyone list maybe three projects like this where downtown retail expanded with new construction on it's own (not a part of another development)? I can't think of a laundry list of projects like this. Unique in the past 5 years or not? :)

Still looking forward to more images of the final design.

They must be putting that insulation up fast, because I drove by last night and it was almost 100% covered! You can get a really good feel for the massing of the structure now.

The crew has also begun to construct the "smokestack" element (seen below in red). Also it appears that one of the windows on the south side of the building will not be square, but rather an asymmetrical angular shape. This is a cool/funky building and I think it will fit in great in the Mill District.

Do you think that window may be one of the four pieces of the largest window in the picture?

At the Izzy's in St. Paul they have a blown-up picture of the new building.

You can't really tell in that picture, but on the right side you can look into that big window and see people on some sort of second-level patio or something.

Thanks for the great photo. I love this project! The building is playful and cute in a very likable way. This is what an ice cream factory should look like. Definitely one of the more interesting and imaginative buildings to go up in Minneapolis in recent years.

Thanks! Looks like the smoke stack is less round? That's a bummer, but yeah, this is going to be cool.

It's almost like these projects could share cranes (although it wouldn't look as cool). I remember when there was a tower crane for the central library, Xcel used it to place some new cooling equipment on their 414 Nicollet Mall HQ. I think they had to close down 4th St S however.
