I’m guessing that the necessary maintenance costs on equipment that is no longer needed made it practical to remove the microwave horns. Is the whole crown going away? The first (bottom) layer of the crown could be worth saving, but if that has to go away as well, the building itself is a pretty decent presence on the skyline.

There were cranes up at the Gold Medal Flour building yesterday, anyone know what's going on?

I saw that they started to take the lower parts of the Centurylink antenna down yesterday.

Anyone know the latest on the project just south of 10th St. and west of Hennepin? I thought they were supposed to start construction on two different hotels this summer?

Fingers crossed that they are dead, the designs were absolutely appalling and there are higher and better uses for those parcels.

Often I've thought it would be neat to put an iconic large sculpture overlooking the 35W/94/55 mess of ramps entering downtown. I was thinking just south of the Sherwinn Williams building parking lot or near the corner of it. The idea is that as people coming into Downtown via the LRT or car their eyes will drawn to something more aesthetically pleasing then the highways. Something welcome people into Downtown and represent the city.

I love this idea. I think downtown Minneapolis could use more large art/sculpture in general.

Have the bear climb US Bank Stadium...now that I think about subject matter...a large stylized sculpture of a sailboat might work. It would go along with other branding of the city.

Where is that bear sculpture?
Fairly sure the bear is peering into Denver’s convention center.

Seth, You are absolutely right. The blue bear is peering into the Denver Convention Center. It is one of the more clever pieces of public sculpture I’ve seen. It is actually quite striking when seen in person and delightfully whimsical at the same time. We and m any other Coloradans had bears, cougars, bobcats, mule deer, coyotes and other critters peering in our Colorado Springs windows on a regular basis, so the image of the bear looking into the building is very apt. Apparently monumental animal sculptures in Colorado turn blue. There is a giant, blue rearing horse at the entrance to the Denver airport. It used to scare our grandkids with it’s glaring, wild, illuminated red eyes.

I do think we need a "Minneapolis" sign, but not sure where to put it? St. Anthony Main? Gold Medal Park? Boom Island? Bde Maka Ska?

Beginning of Stone Arch Bridge towards downtown! Heavy foot traffic and one of the most photogenic spots in the city. I've always thought we needed a MPLS sign there.
