Re: Uptown-LynLake-Wedge - News & General Topics
Ah they're opening a cafe on the block that recently had all parking/loading spaces removed? Thought that would be impossible to do...
Re: Uptown-LynLake-Wedge - News & General Topics
Do you think they're moving the Uptown Diner from its current location? It would be really nice if that building and lot were replaced with some TOD.The owner of the uptown diner is opening a new cafe at 3008 Hennepin ave S(the old North face space) per the star tribunes story about Hennepin's reconstruction
From a business perspective, that chain of restaurants all have pretty similar menus. It seems like a second restaurant would just cannibalize business from the Uptown Diner.

It will be a shame if it is not longer a movie house.

I'll be sad about this too, but between the Grenada and another Armory-quality venue in Uptown, the transition of this neighborhood from upscale mall into an entertainment district might finally be taking shape. It will be a shame if it is not longer a movie house.
Re: Uptown-LynLake-Wedge - News & General Topics
Agreed between this, can can wonderlands plans for the mall and the Grenada it seems uptown is now a music and entertainment area. This influx of people should help a few other new places open as well
Re: Uptown-LynLake-Wedge - News & General Topics
I do love being this type of venue to Uptown. But I have to wonder.....how many music venues of this size can make it in MSP? I love the Palace in St Paul but I hate driving there.

Anyone have an update on when the Bryant Ave S reconstruction will start? It doesn't appear the city website has been updated this year yet.

Maybe we can talk our new "strong mayor" into strong arming the city website geeks into updating it!
Re: Uptown-LynLake-Wedge - News & General Topics
I listened in on the master plan "listening session" for the Cedar Lake/Lake of the isles. Looking at the names of who was talking it was mostly the homeowners who have docks in Cedar lake over there and were adamant that adding any sort of path or board walk around the lake would ruin the naturalness of the lake.
Personally I think that they should improve the access around this lake and allow all of the visitors to enjoy it just like we do at the rest of the lakes in the chain. From the sound of it though they are hearing mostly from the homeowners right along there who don't want to see any addition of the walk paths.
The plans are on this site

and you can fill out their survey here

Would love to see an official trail around all of Cedar. People have already carved their own foot path. Might as well make it more accessible to all.
Re: Uptown-LynLake-Wedge - News & General Topics
ahh, they got rid of that bridge across isles at 26th. maybe thats been off the table for a while but i always liked that idea.
also now keeping the duplicate roadways on the north end? why?

Centro is coming to Eat Street! Taking over the former Wedge Table space. From what the article says, seems they'll be running quite the multifaceted operation out of it.

Fantastic. Wedge Table was a good concept, but it just didn't work out well. Glad to see someone like Centro taking over. It's a cool space.Centro is coming to Eat Street! Big fan of Centro (and the morning operation, Vivir). It's been fun to see Eat Street restaurants open in NE (Lu's) and now the vice-versa happening.
Re: Uptown-LynLake-Wedge - News & General Topics
Sounds like the big commissary kitchen that the Wedge built out back-of-house is the real story here. This is going to be supplying their expansion around the metro.
Re: Uptown-LynLake-Wedge - News & General Topics
Uptown pourhouse has closed indefinitely due to unforeseen circumstances. uptown tavern has also paused operations citing crime concerns for there staff but have stated they expect to re open in the late spring. Cowboy slims have renewed there liquor license but have no plans to re open.
