Downtown Minneapolis Retail News
Re: Downtown Minneapolis Retail News
Businesses should be allowed to put up something like what the IDS has for its major retail/restaurant tenants. Why not put up something permanent like they did for the Superbowl directing people to the skyways....

One of the retail spaces at 903 S Washington Ave (previously occupied by Sanctuary) has a sign posted for a new restaurant:
Nothing found out on the internet yet when I search for Spice & Tonic.

Re: Downtown Minneapolis Retail News
Spice and Tonic will be a welcome addition. The south stretch of Washington from Chicago to 11th is painfully vacant. With Periscope not in the office, the book center closed and Northern Coffee and the greenery now closed... it needs a bit of life.
Hopefully I can eat enough spice to keep them afloat for a while.

Re: Downtown Minneapolis Retail News
I discovered a new mens store in the North Loop called Jaxon Gray last weekend. They have very fun, contemporary clothing geared more to younger guys, I think. It is owned by the son of Len Drusken who formerly owned mens boutiques around the metro for 20 years. Apparently, Jaxon Gray will be moving out of their current location to the former Mind Your Melon store, which has a larger footprint. Things have been so depressing for the downtown reatil scene recently, so I was thrilled to discover it. Cool store. https://jaxongrey.com

Re: Downtown Minneapolis Retail News
Does anyone know anything about Off the Rails Public House going in where Bus Stop Brewery was in the Wells Fargo towers?
Re: Downtown Minneapolis Retail News
I can't find it now but previously dug into it and believe it's connected to the owner of the the Blarney and Pog Mahone's.Does anyone know anything about Off the Rails Public House going in where Bus Stop Brewery was in the Wells Fargo towers?
Re: Downtown Minneapolis Retail News
That's correct - the name was filed to the Secretary of State by Michael Mulrooney, who owns those two businesses.

It appears Target has no intention to return the store to normal hours.

Re: Downtown Minneapolis Retail News
Clearly a pro-active attempt by Target to blame their obviously failing business model on crime and 'undesirable behavior'.
Re: Downtown Minneapolis Retail News
I think we could move the crowd that’s been in front of the Target for two years to the Wedge Co-op parking lot?

Sad that target will still keep its limited hours but that store has been thought alot over the past 2 years. Its a great reason for the city to add another grocery store downtown like Aldi, Cub ect.
I dont think anyone would consider them a failing business but this store is really critical for the lorning park and CBD residential community

The store was critical to the Loring Park and CBD residential community.
They close at 6. Local residents can't even get there after work before the store closes. With their current hours they could close the store completely and I'd barley notice.

Has anyone heard any rumors of if and when Target and the Skyways will return to the normal hours?
Re: Downtown Minneapolis Retail News
Give that someone was shot and killed outside the store recently during operating hours I doubt they will extend the hours anytime soon. I hope maybe in November?Has anyone heard any rumors of if and when Target and the Skyways will return to the normal hours?
Re: Downtown Minneapolis Retail News
Were they also looted? Target isn't going to keep the store open longer until the risk goes down. This is the issue we have in North, businesses can't be open if they aren't feel safe. They have an obligation to their staff and customers.
Re: Downtown Minneapolis Retail News
Lake Street Target was looted and burned, it's open until 10. None of this happened downtown.
