Re: Downtown Minneapolis Retail News
Clearly a pro-active attempt by Target to blame their obviously failing business model on crime and 'undesirable behavior'.
Re: Downtown Minneapolis Retail News
I think we could move the crowd that’s been in front of the Target for two years to the Wedge Co-op parking lot?

Sad that target will still keep its limited hours but that store has been thought alot over the past 2 years. Its a great reason for the city to add another grocery store downtown like Aldi, Cub ect.
I dont think anyone would consider them a failing business but this store is really critical for the lorning park and CBD residential community

The store was critical to the Loring Park and CBD residential community.
They close at 6. Local residents can't even get there after work before the store closes. With their current hours they could close the store completely and I'd barley notice.

Was sad to see Greek Grill & Cafe in the skyway at Northstar Center is now closed. Where can I get my gyro fix downtown now??

Re: Downtown Minneapolis Restaurant News
I hope they re-open somewhere else, they were my favorite gyro place downtown. Seems like all tenants were kicked out of Northstar for the renovations. Was sad to see Greek Grill & Cafe in the skyway at Northstar Center is now closed. Where can I get my gyro fix downtown now??
Re: Downtown Minneapolis Retail News
Has anyone heard any rumors of if and when Target and the Skyways will return to the normal hours?
Re: Downtown Minneapolis Retail News
Give that someone was shot and killed outside the store recently during operating hours I doubt they will extend the hours anytime soon. I hope maybe in November?Has anyone heard any rumors of if and when Target and the Skyways will return to the normal hours?
Re: Downtown Minneapolis Retail News
Were they also looted? Target isn't going to keep the store open longer until the risk goes down. This is the issue we have in North, businesses can't be open if they aren't feel safe. They have an obligation to their staff and customers.
Re: Downtown Minneapolis Retail News
Lake Street Target was looted and burned, it's open until 10. None of this happened downtown.

Re: Downtown Minneapolis Retail News
Can anyone estimate how much business the downtown Target did between 6 and 10 PM pre-pandemic compared to the Lake Street Target?
I’m guessing the answer to reduced store hours lies somewhere at the confluence of lower traffic and higher crime.

Re: Downtown Minneapolis Retail News
It was usually pretty busy in the 6pm-8pm time frame. Busier than it was during the non-lunch-hour portion of the workday.
For what it's worth, I don't think it would be nearly as much of a problem if they at least were open until 8. Closing at 6 makes it basically unavailable to a huge swathe of people, though.

Yeah, pretty weird they still have those hours. Lake Street is my closest Target and I haven’t had any issues. I’ve been to the downtown Target many times and it’s always had an interesting crowd outside. Not sure why headquarters would keep this going. Can anyone estimate how much business the downtown Target did between 6 and 10 PM pre-pandemic compared to the Lake Street Target?

Re: Downtown Minneapolis Retail News
Wow. The situation must have been dire indeed for them to consider that alternative.
Re: Downtown Minneapolis Retail News
What are they trying to do exactly? Add weird planters to leave less space for non-customers to loiter?
