G Line BRT (Rice-Robert)

Postby Tcmetro » September 25th, 2023, 3:25 pm

Metro Transit has posted the Draft G Line Corridor Plan today:

G Line Homepage: https://www.metrotransit.org/g-line-project
G Line Draft Corridor Plan: https://www.metrotransit.org/Data/Sites ... r-plan.pdf

Currently, the G Line will be opened in two phases. The first phase on Rice St between Little Canada and Downtown St Paul, the second phase on Robert St. extending south to the Dakota County Service Center. It looks like 2027-2028 is the target opening date.

Nothing of particular note in there, I don't think. Tons of coordinated projects though.

It is a disappointing way to find out, however, that St. Paul isn't adding bus lanes when they reconstruct Robert Street through downtown. It's reminiscent of the Hennepin Avenue South/E Line bus lanes dispute, except St. Paul isn't even going to make it possible to add them in the future. Swing and a miss.
