The company I work for, also coincidently in Eagan and also trying to majorly downsize their real estate footprint, is running into capacity issues with their data center so they're starting to outsource components rather than do a major expansion and upgrade.

Thomson Reuters is looking to sell a portion of their Eagan campus as employees seek hybrid work arrangements. They are looking to sell 179 of their 263 acres. They may look for a smaller space for employees in the southeast metro. Vacancy in the office market in the Eagan area apparently increased five times from the previous quarter.

I'm not very knowledgeable about the office market but I'm surprised they would look for a different site rather than just downsize where they are. I can see a lot of this land being sold for housing. I wonder if there is space in the Vikings Lake development in Eagan?
Hopefully they develop the land better than the residential area to the west.

A two mile drive to visit your neighbour seems a bit excessive.

But it could be worse.

I noticed while riding thru Cedar Grove TS on the 444 this afternoon there was a ground breaking ceremony about to take place for another new apartment building going in kittycorner from the main station building. Southeast corner of Cedar Grove Pkwy and Nicols Road. IIRC the name on the board was 'The Nicol', but I can't find any relevant results for that. (Apparently there's some CEO named Nicole Eagan though.) Nice to see some more density and development going in close to the station.

I wonder why the skyway wasn't connected to the west side of the freeway... that could have provided some TOD as well.

I'd guess not. The area is guided to stay industrial in St. Paul's 2040 plan. With the light industrial market remaining red hot, I'll bet their current facility will be subleased in a heartbeat.

Too bad, because some combination of the following would be great:
- Realign Fort Road Bridge to connect with Shepard instead of W 7th. W 7th could end at Davern for connection to Shepard/Hwy 5, and the existing W. 7th corridor cutting through the grid could stay for streetcar/LRT from the bridge to Alton.
- East of Alton (St. Paul Ave) use the rail spur for rail transit until somewhere east of 35E.
- Open up large sites such as Johnson Brothers for mega-TOD along the LRT

Ryan, Thomson Reuters ink deal for Eagan property

Minneapolis-based Ryan Companies US, Inc. has a deal in place to acquire part of the Thomson Reuters campus in Eagan for new development to be determined.

The sale and purchase agreement with Thomson Reuters, announced Thursday, includes 179 acres of the company’s 263-acre campus in Eagan, Ryan said in a press release. Included on the campus are a 1.1 million-square-foot office building, three data centers with a combined 333,912 square feet of space and 90 acres of undeveloped land.

I once interviewed for a job there, and I’m still walking back to my car.

That's a pedestrian hellscape, but it'd be nice to have something other than a warehouse at such a prominent corner in a first (second?) ring suburb.

This proposal has been withdrawn by Johnson Brothers. City Council had sent it along to Met Council but I think Johnson Bros read the writing on the wall after massive pushback from neighbors. Most of it was related to traffic/pollution and a desire to not let industrial uses cross to that side Highway 13.
