Just going to copy over this question from the HERC thread about why experts on the city staff might throw their hands up and look for work elsewhere, apropos of nothing in particular.
Or maybe the Executive has appointed his lackeys to positions they have no business running. If my boss was an imbecile and only has the job because they were appointed by their buddy I would look for a job elsewhere.

Pretty cool to see the city council deny COLA salary increases for the mayor's appointments. Some of the salaries for these appointments are comical.

Yeah I can't imagine why people would leave the organization where Lisa Goodman can create a job and then magically Lisa Goodman ends up the most qualified person for that job.

A bit of speculation, but utility locates have been happening around 4301 E Lake St the last couple of weeks. It appears to be unrelated to general Lake Street goings-on, and fingers crossed it indicates progress on this mixed-use project: https://www.longfellowwhatever.com/new- ... city-site/

A few things in this Livable Communities grant presentation I hadn't seen before, including something for the vacant lot at 2116 Nicollet.

The owners of Centro have purchased the building on 42nd St that was formerly home to Chris & Rob's Chicago Taste Authority. The new restaurant will be called "Bill's Bait Shop" targeting a June opening. No relation to Bill's Garden just down the street of course.

It'll be nice to have a restaurant with a full menu & bar in this neighborhood. The neighborhoods on the west side of Hiawatha are extremely residential, almost suburbanly, aside from 38th St Station area and this little stretch of 42nd St. In the vicinity there's Buster's to the west, which has pretty good food but no booze, only beer & wine. To the south there's Bull's Horn, which does have booze but has a frustratingly limited menu & hours (4-10pm, 7 days a week, no weekend brunch or even lunch). I hope this place is good enough to stick around.
