MN Hockey Hall of Fame

Maybe it's just vaporware, but it does have a purported Spring 2026 groundbreaking date.

And no announced site? But I'm assuming it's out in the suburbs. If I had to guess, I'd say somewhere next to Braemar Arena.

Hear me out. It should be built at the Greco site in NE. Near downtown and the U. Great parks and would provide a good draw to the area while still being in a dense part of the city to a degree

How could this not be in St. Paul?

You know just because some coworkers where literally talking about the movie today and how there's a scene where the kids are skating down niccolite mall only to turn a corner and magically windup at MOA
Imagine if there was a tiny corner for the mighty ducks.

Local Media covered it and they all say the location is undisclosed. I guess we have to wait until it breaks ground?
I wonder why they are being so secretive? Maybe she got some free land or something from a city? But, if that happened it should show up in public records. St Paul would be the best place for it. I wouldn't be surprised if it ended up in Blaine however. As others said MOA area is probably the best bet.

I have heard that USA Hockey is not pleased by this development. The US Hockey Hall of Fame in Eveleth is in rough shape and they have been looking to move. Possibly as part of the Grand Casino Arena revamp. The Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto is really top notch.

My gut tells me they will announce the site of MN HoF after the 2025 US Hockey Hall of Fame induction ceremony occurs. The Braemar area makes too much sense not to be considered the front runner.

Maybe that has something to do with it being so far out of the way that not even the most die hard hockey fans will go there?

Honestly the proposal to move the US Hockey Hall of Fame to Grand Casino Arena would be game changing not just by bringing an interesting attraction to one of the better parts of Downtown St. Paul, but actually let people know the US Hockey Hall of Fame exists in Minnesota at all.

It would have been nice if they worked together and were next door to each other. St Paul can use all the development it can get. Love to see the RiverCentre garage gone.

Looks like this is apparently the correct answer, with Inver Grove Heights formally approving the sale of "a prominent parcel near I-494 and Argenta Trail, east of the Viking Lakes development."

Which is kind of embarrassing, because any connection between IGH and hockey heritage is pretty tenuous.

Maybe this is our catalyst to finally close the missing link of light rail between the South Loop and Viking Lakes.

They keep really trying to make the SE metro into some kind of entertainment zone but it's forever going to be "the suburbs near the refinery I pass on the train on my way to Chicago."

You may want to check the location on Google Maps, as this is not near the Mississippi River or the Amtrak rail route. Just saying.
I think this will be a 'good' area for this, as it at least will be near another destination spot for many.

IGH and Dakota County must be pleased as this could help speed up the timeline for a planned interchange at 494 & Argenta Trail. They've identified it in a preliminary study of future road needs, but it's not a funded project yet.

I was just kidding about a light rail from the mall to Viking Lakes, to be sure.

I didn’t say “I can see the exact site of this future building from the train,” I was saying the only time I even think about Inver Grove Heights is when I see the Flint Hills Refinery while heading somewhere else. :|
